Am I the only one who got the love at first sight feeling here? AND that there's a love triangle coming up? I liked Andre de Leon and Lucifer was...interesting. Though Gabrielle Fiori annoyed me most of the time. I'm sure I'll continue with the series, however I'm not sure if I'll like it. This book really had a potential to be good, but Gabrielle as a main character destroyed things for me and how she reacted to something and believed everything that was said to her. But like it said, I liked A ...more

I was ready to be disappointed, but it wasn't the case. I am glad to have discovered this series, it had a great start. Also, the other books seem to be better. *fingers crossed*

I picked this book up in a whim because I was bored with what I was reading at the moment and wanted something light, intriguing and with fantastical elements. And The Unearthly is just that. Laura Thalassa did

Did somebody turn up the heat?

No, that’s just the Unearthly…and Gabrielle Fiori. I don’t often read in the YA paranormal romance genre, mostly because I’m so sick of shallow, insecure, simpering female leads. Gabrielle Fiori was anything but. She’s confident and goes after what she wants, and she’s just dripping with attitude. While reading The Unearthly, I felt like shouting out, “Finally!” For once, an author gets it.

Gabrielle Fiori is the last of the sirens, which means she

Actual review:

One thing this book has made me realize is the fact that I don't mind if century year old vampires fall in love with high school girls... if they are stuck at the age of a high school teenager. But when you have a century old vampire in his mid to late twenties falling for a high school girl, I do not like that.

Usually I break my reviews up into my likes and dislikes, but there isn't much that I liked about this book so...

First of all, I found it hard to read this book…it was HARD TO PUT DOWN! I started and finished reading it in ten hours. Would have been less if I didn’t need to eat, drink…breathe!

When I started reading it, I thought to myself: This sounds very much like Harry Potter. Orphan, check. Magical school, check. Two funny sidekicks, check. Main character clueless about own power, check. Only difference would be it’s about a teenage girl rather than a little boy.

This is one of those terrible books that we've all come across. And it always has these elements in it:

1. The most stupidest, insufferable main character that you could possibly imagine and that you repeatedly want to slap multiple times for their dumbass mistakes that even you can pick up from the start.

2. The worst love interest ever that's supposed to intrigue you but instead comes across as a jerk face. Even worse, this love interest is so cocky and arrogant he assumes girls want

This looks so damn good! Oh my god, can't wait to get my hands on this.
I was looking for a seriously good YA PNR book to read when I stumbled across Unearthly on Goodreads. I won’t lie I am a bit of a cover whore, so the first thing that drew me to this book was the beautiful front cover. People who say that books shouldn’t be judged by their covers need to make good covers, 99% of the time people will pick up the book if it looks appealing and they will only read it if it has a good blurb. This book had both, along with lots of 5 star reviews.

I just realized that I hadn't reviewed this awesome YA paranormal by Laura Thalassa. I was lucky enough to beta read it before it was published, and these are the six reasons why I read it in one sitting:

1) Andre. So.Freaking.Hot. His chemistry and passion with Gabrielle… awesome! Why am I so addicted to alpha males that rock in books?

2) Gabrielle. This is the first siren I’ve ever read about in a paranormal young adult book, and she’s just damn cool.

3) Gabrielle’s butt-kicking skills. It’s so r

Meh, super special snowflake teen goes to a boarding school for supernaturals and is mentored by a hot, rich, older vampire. The cover is pretty though.
Nika (Off to Neverland)
Let me start off by saying what lured me to this book. 1. The cover, which is pretty good. 2. The synopsis. Sirens, vampires? Hell to the yes! 3. A love interest who happens to be the king of the vampires? And a bad boy?

But while some things were just as I expected, some where not. But before that, let me tell you a little about the story.

Gabrielle Fiori wants to fit in, something that she hasn't been able to do in a majority of her life. Thinking that a change of scenery might change that, she
I was pleasantly surprised by this. I have an especial weakness for books/series set in boarding schools/academies for the ‘talented’ eg Harry Potter, Vampire Academy and the Covenant series. And arriving at the secret location of Peel Academy felt a little like coming back to Hogwarts. Hoorah!

Surprisingly though, and I think this is a good thing, not much happens on the actual campus. There’s none of the boring routine of “I got up, went to class, it was super boring but I think the class hotti

Overall, this book was interesting. I've never read about a Siren before, much less one who's the last of her kind or who dies and turns into something else.

Was wary at first about her relationship with the vampire, Andre, because flashes of Bella Swan and Edward Cullen went through my head, but I was wrong. Andre was not an emotionless, irritating, creepy stalker; and Gabrielle wasn't a whiny, clingy, helpless teenager. Andre and Gabrille were completely the opposite, al though Andre's interest

Oh wow. Just wow! This book draws you in from the beginning and holds you there to the very end. Twists and turns galore! The story is fascinating, different, and will make you laugh out loud! Definitely recommend worthy!
What a little gem I have found! I bought this book ages ago and while trying to clear off my ereader and being in the mood for anything, I clicked it and ran with it. I think I was afraid this was just a case of cover lust. Didn't have any clue what it was about and didn't read any reviews beforehand. So, this was a complete surprise to me and I was in love from the first couple chapters on. Read it the way I did (go in with no knowledge) but if you must read this first...

The Unearthly was a pleasant surprise! Based on the first couple of chapters, I felt like this was just another YA Paranormal Romance where the heroine is super super special and gets the attention of the most popular supernatural guy around and they're destined to be together and they live happily ever after after he saves her from some baddies. Well, it is that, plus some interesting twists! Gabrielle was adopted when she was five after her parents died in a fire, so she has no clue what legac ...more

The storyline was interesting and I enjoyed the characters and learning all of the supernatural beings that attended Peel Academy. However, I can't stand insta love and that's what happened here. I get why it was insta love and that made me hate it a little less but I still didn't have to like it.

Also, I thought it was kind of stupid how Gabrielle reacted when she found out that there were freaking vampires and she was a siren and all this other crazy mythological stuff existed. She jus

Gabrielle Fiori thought she was a normal girl. Just Kidding. She soon finds out she's the last Siren. And a Vampire. And a soul mate. And dead. Oops. It's okay she comes back!! Then she meets the fiesty and loyal Leanne and Gay as unicorns and rainbows, Oliver. That's great and all, but then she meets Andre De Leon, her soulmate. "Nope, no, none of that." Says Gabrielle. I HATE THE CONCEPT OF "THE VAMPIRE KING" AND I WOULD, IF I COULD, SET ON FIRE ANY AUTHOR WHO USED IT. I can deal with several vampire kings, but if they are not in their towers and castle and safe havens, plotting against their enemies, and, instead, have time to flirt with teenagers THEY DON'T DESERVE THE TITLE. And DEFINITELY I do not believe in a SINGLE VAMPIRE KING for the entire world. The world is too big a place. They'd never pull it off.

Ahem. Sorry about that.

Maybe I should have written the review after I read just this one, but I waited until I read the second book as well and because they flow together so seamlessly, I can't separate them in my mind, so this is for the two books as one. Adopted and not knowing anything about her past, Gabrielle goes off to a school that she can attend only because of who and what she is. She is the daughter of her father and mother, but who were they and what does that make her is what she fi

Laura Thalassa brings you into a very interesting world filled with mystery. Every time a question was answered another one came up so I found this book to be extremely captivating. She also left the book at a great spot to start the second, which I look forward to reading.

It was a great book, with a good plot and interesting scenes but honestly I HATED Gabrielle, could she be more clueless when it comes to Andre and totally in denial when it comes to hope much she loves him and she going to hurt Caleb because obviously he really like her and it's impossible for her to love him back so that's another person she is hurting along with Andre!! Wickedly creative and immensely original.
I've read a lot of books but none quite like this, a secret siren (last of your kind) turned vampire, with an attached soul mate. I was in love with it from the start, there's nothing I love more than an endless love story. The Unearthly is beautifully told through Gabrielle Fiori a recently realized siren and even more recently turned vampire with a very hot king of vampires that can't wait to make her his. Kind of disappointed with this book. I was enjoying it until about halfway through. The plot was interesting, and that was mainly that kept me reading. The writing was a little bland and the story happened way too fast. I was really mad because the main character seemed great at first, but then it just seemed like she was too perfect. What makes an interesting character is the fact that they make mistakes and loose some battles. But unfortunately the author wrote her as a perfect, "str

I enjoyed the world of The Unearthly. It’s no secret that I love vampire stories, and this one was different enough to make it stand out. Not only are there vampires, but the other supernaturals bring something different to the table. I think this is the first book I read about a teenage siren, and I enjoyed hearing about her abilities and watching her figure out her past. The book ends with a bang, and enough questions are answered so it’s not frustrating but it still leaves enough open so I ...more
