When I read ‘Piepel’ as a child, I did not realize that this book would help me much later in the future. Piepel struggles to survive owing to his talent to entertain the Nazis. It is a horrible story with atrocious accounts from hell. Death upon death, diseases, starvation, atrocities upon atrocities, murder upon murder, cannibalism, rape and deprivations, and there is no God to stop this madness. I cried a lot in this book.
