I thoroughly enjoyed this hot, yet clean medieval romance. I would highly recommend it. There is suspense and mystery and an aching love between two who fight it but shouldn't. 5 stars!!!

I really liked this from an early stage. The writing is good and research well done. We really get a feel for life in a medieval castle, which could be quite isolated and self-supporting.
Lady Gemma lives in her father's castle on the Thames during the Anarchy, when King Stephen and Empress Maud are marching armies about trying to take over England. This is the same time period as the Cadfael books or The Pillars of the Earth. A boy that Gemma thinks she loves, vanishes overnight with his family

Let me just say that this book delivers in the angst and romantic tension department. It's all about two people, full of misunderstanding, struggling with the attraction and love they feel because they have both been hurt. I really enjoyed the back and forth pull between the characters.

This was a book I didn't want to stop reading. It just pulled me forward and I wanted to see everything work out for Gemma and Nicholas. It had mystery, intrigue and danger. Lots of very good elements tha

Loved it!!
Medieval romance at it's best! And oh what a hero! I absolutely loved this story and know I will go back and read it again in the future. Amy Mullen has a gift for taking you into the story and making you feel like you are right there watching the characters in person! The good characters were enchanting and I found myself caring for them all. The villains were so evil you could feel the emotional pull of wanting them caught! Along with the romance was a page turning mystery you couldn

I loved the mystery and the secret passages, but the romance in this fell a little short for me as the characters seemed to flip flop too much. I did also enjoy the historical aspects as I do not read much set in the Middle Ages.

I'm sorry to say that for me a "clean read" does not include an almost rape on someone's wedding day. I stopped reading at that point and could read no further.
