It would be an understatement to say Callaway's "Mayhem in Mayfair" novels make for interesting reads. Her super sweet and largely authentic romances seem almost contradictory to the erotic elements of the stories, as well to the seemingly dark plot devices used (a wife secretly takes the place of her husband's mistress; a dangerous man is intent on seducing an innocent; and now a society flirt deals with the aftermath of her horrid marriage). Added to all this is inevitably a subplot of mystery ...more

I have read all of Grace Callaway's books and this ranks up there with my favorites I love the relationship between Marianne and Ambrose. Marinne has been an enigma from the first introduction in Her Husband's Harlot and here we come to finally understand her. And Ambrose is one of those perfect romance Heros-strong, intensely passionate and over protective. Totally swoon-worthy. You will love this latest installment in the "Mayhem in Mayfair" series. And if you've never read them pick them up e ...more

I'd Rate This a 3.5

HER PROTECTOR'S PLEASURE is the third book in the Mayhem in Mayfair series. The events of the book overlap the story of the second book HER WANTON WAGER. It is not necessary to have read the prior books although, of course, reading them enhances this book since the characters from the first two books in the series make significant appearances here.

This book is the story of Baroness Marianne Craven, a widow with a somewhat scandalous reputation. She has a secret. Her daughter w
I've read all the books in this series. This is BY FAR the best one. This must be one of my favorite novels ever to be honest. I've read more romance books than I'd like to admit, some were truly fantastic and others so bad I didnt even bother to finish them.
This novel is truly fantastic. I loved the heroine, she is so strong and determined and smart, and the hero is her perfect equal in every way. The storyline behind her past is truly captivating and there were scenes where I literally had to
This third book in the Mayhem series is my FAVORITE. Marianne and Ambrose have such great chemistry. Their story starts in Her Wanton Wager and when reading that book I was very anxious to learn how they get to where they are in the scenes in the Her Wanton Wager (things are only eluded to in the book). Marianne is not who she portrays to the ton. She is a mother who wants to get her child back by any means and is very untrusting of everyone. I understand why she is distant but that does not mea ...more

I liked this book and thought it was well written and the plot stayed on pace.

I LOVED Ambrose, he was just perfect. I loved his devotion to his family and his work. I loved that he was not a rake or a man-ho. And the way he gave his all for Marianne - sigh...

Marianne on the other hand was harder for me to like. I understand her mistrust of men - to a certain degree. I do think Ambrose proved himself worthy of her trust many times and yet at the first indication of betrayal , she automa
This is the best out of all the Mayhem in Mayfair books, and that's saying a lot considering I loved the other 3 books as well. What really made this story great is the chemistry between the hero, Ambrose and the heroine Marianne. They had sizzling hot chemistry, but it goes far deeper than that. I enjoyed seeing each character blossom throughout the story. Ambrose from being uptight and a bit of a moralistic snob as Marianne liked to call him to a man who was willing to risk anything, sacrifice ...more

This author never fails to amaze me. The only regret that I had is I did not read this book after reading the 2nd book, since they are both connected. I loved how th me author connected the 2 books. I advise for those who plan to read this, to read first the 2nd book.

I love the h/h. I loved the conflicts and drama of the characters. I loved the mysterious enemy, that I never guessed. It amazes how the author balanced the story of the enemy and the building of the relationship of the h/h. I liked
We finally find out why Marianne was on occasion flustered and looking as if something were wrong in the past books. Her whole life after her husband’s death as well as her marriage to him was a sham. She has been searching for her daughter Primrose since her husband’s death because he sold her to get back at Marianne!

This was by far my favorite book of the series not only because we finally find out what was going on with Marianne but because I’ve always liked her character. She never really ca
3 1/2 stars. I liked Ambrose, but had some problems with Marianne. The plot is somewhat predictable. Also, the series seems to get tamer with each book. Definitely worth the read (and if you don't like a lot of sex scenes, then this one is still too spicy for you), but just doesn't quite live up to the other books in the series.
More book for your buck!!

More book for your buck!!

Fantastic writer! Wonderful series! Love the characters!
It just keeps going and not in a bad way. So very worth it!!!
This was really 3.5 stars.

I love Ambrose and I like Marianne. But I wish she had shared her secret earlier. I liked the mystery of who the bad guy was. Never saw that coming.

I'm not a prude but I still find the sex scenes a bit too graphic.

This book overlaps HER WANTON WAGER so I suggest you read that one first.

I really got kind of tired of Marianne refusing to tell anyone what was going on. I mean, seriously, get over it. But other than that, it was a fun read.
I liked the first two books in this series and enjoyed this one as well.

Grace grew up in Canada. In order to avoid frost-bite in the winter and mosquitoes in the summer, she spent a lot of time reading indoors. Her earliest attempts at writing resulted in rhymes about puppies and flying carpets; as a teenager, she graduated to angst-ridden, non-rhyming poems about nothing in particular.

Perhaps wisely, she took a break from writing to get a doctorate from the Universit
