DEEP THROAT WAS ONLY THE BEGINNING.
Linda Boreman was just twenty-one when she met Chuck Traynor, the man who would change her life. Less than two years later, the girl who wouldn't let her high school dates get past first base was catapulted to fame she could never have imagined in her wildest dreams-or worst nightmares. Linda Boreman of...more
Sorry this review is a little all over the place as I attempt to get my thoughts together.
I am really trying very hard to get through this book. I watched the movie Lovelace, it doesnt even scratch the surface, and I will tell you, Ive seen Deep Throat and I am terribly uncomfortable at the thought of having watched this movie with the star being violently abused and forced into pornography...
If she was: rumor has it that the abuse she details is over h...more
Linda Lovelace was a woman who starred in a porn film in the 1970s. It became mainstream and she became well known worldwide. She was represented as the face of hedonistic sexuality and met film stars and the strange Playboy tycoon Hefner. However there w...more
I read it when I was in my teens and it appalled me the life this poor woman led. I'm not anti-porn at all, but I am 100% anti-coercion and exploitation. Love and sex are gifts, not means of abuse. Rating this as 5 stars to say I really liked it feels all kinds of wrong. I didn't like it, it messed me up for a while, but reading it was eye-opening and it blew my mind, that a man, Chuck Traynor, was capable of doing this to another person....more
" we people are sick, not sick with disease but sick in mind! Without our humanity
We are no more than downright animals. "
This was probably the most depressing autobiography I have ever read. The title ordeal suits perfectly. U might be thinking what inspired me to pick up this book out of the whim, well yesterday i was searching for a suitable movie to watch and i stumbled upon, a movie which was called as 'love lace,' sure Amanda...more
When I was with Chuck, I was sure he had to be one of a kind. There could be no one else on earth like that. Now I know better. There are Chucks everywhere and there is some of Chuck in many people. I see...more

This memoir is possibly the most disturbing thing I've read. I went from crying to completely terrified. And yet still, notice I gave this rating five stars. Yes, it's a tad poorly written but I did not care for the writing. I cared for the message Linda was trying to make. The story she was trying to tell.
And she definitely told her story. Ordeal is definitely chilling, it's compelling, it's mind opening and it'll make you angry. Angry at Linda for g...more
The things Linda agreed to and let Chuck do to her was... repulsive. It was embarrassing, not just for her, but for women everywhere.
I feel like falling in with him was 100% her fault. He has a nice car and she swoons. He tells her he owned a private airline and SHE BELIEVES him. (view spoiler)[At one point,...more
This book was short and should have been a quick read but I had to keep putting it down for crying at the things this woman was abused into doing.
I understand why some say this is sort of anti porn feminzai induced writing, mostly because of the language used and how really poorly written it is.
But I don't think that changes the truth. I think that it stands as the core truth of the porn industry. We believe t...more
How does one even begin to review a book like this? I think this had to be the saddest, most emotional biography book I have ever read. I felt physically ill at certain times through this book at the abuse this woman went through. To come out, and live somewhat a normal life as she did and to be brave enough to put these words out there for people to read renders me speechless.
This is the biography of Linda Lovelace. Linda's pornography film "Deepthroat" was the...more
ATTENTION! If you're under 21 y-o, please do not read this review. It contains explicit and graphic sexual descriptions that might be offensive.
I've read many porn stars and ex-porn stars memoirs, but nothing can beat Ordeal. It's the most sadistic and disturbing book I've ever read.
The story begins when Linda Boreman had a car accident. She met Chuck Traynor who seemed so sweet. Later, Linda found that Chuck is a monster who physically, verbally, and sexually abused her. From then on, her night...more

Deep Throat Was Only The Beginning…
Linda Boreman was just twenty-one when she met Chuck Traynor, the man who would change her life. Less than two years later, the girl who wouldn't let her high school dates get past first base was catapulted to fame she could never have imagined in her wildest dreams—or worst nightmares. I for one would have let the perverts kill me before I would submit to some of the things Linda did. She says that what happened to her could happen to anyone, but I disagree. I would have never allowed someone...more
Linda's story is one I can see relating to so many, take the sexual acts out of the picture (Or some of them) and you have a book on an emotional and physically abusive relationship. Anyone who has been in one of those relationships (To whatever degree) will know you do things because you don't want too and should not be judged on those actions.
Before you start to feel sorry for her or have any sympathy for her at all, remember that this woman had sex with a dog on film…and attempted to twic...more
Deep Throat was notable for beginning a brief fad of porn chic; it was also the inspiration for Bob Woodward's name of his secret Watergate source, W. Mark Felt. Boreman later stated that she re...more
