This book is full of simmering sexual tension, which makes it a super read I couldn't put down. I wondered how a makeover story would go, but I was hooked. The image consultancy was done deftly, and rather than a makeover, was more an ugly duckling growing into a beautiful swan. This is a clever story and I thoroughly enjoyed it.

Dishing Up Desire is another wonderful addition to the Entangled Publishing Indulgence line. I love these shorter novels, they really seem to fit in my summer so far and provide me with wonderful stories to get lost in for a couple of hours.

Character Development:
Kirin and Blake, two very interesting characters with somewhat mysterious pasts. Both have a drive in the present to make something of themselves. Kirin really just wants to get her life and career back on track. Blake has something to...more

I just loved this book. I read it through in one sitting.

How refreshing to have characters who read as real people. I loved Kirin a woman unsure of who she really is has taken a bad hit with a sex scandal. Thank you Ms. DeLeo for not having a perfect heroine! All Kirin wants is to be known for her cooking. Enter Blake, sexy image consultant who thinks Kirin needs to be true to herself and update her image. With reluctance and through wonderful dialogue we see Kirin resist Blake as she’s slowly...more

This book was not at all what I expected, but I still loved it. In my mind's eye, I imagined this book would have a lot more to do with the fact that she was a chef, which is what initially made me interested in this book. I have a thing for chef romances. The fact that Kirin is a chef plays a fairly small role in this book. The majority is really cleaning up her image after a false accusation of sexual Harassment took place.

Kirin and Blake are a hot couple, and there were so many times where I...more

I received this as a ARC on the condition of giving my honest opinion. This is the first time that I have ever done this. I was terrified that I would not like it and have to say so and why. SO needless to say I was so happy to find that I loved it!

The premise and occupations of the hero and heroine are a little different... she is a celebrity chef coming off a PR nightmare and he is perceived as a image consultant come to rescue her image and in the end to help expand his career. I loved the d...more

Very entertaining read! I enjoyed the book from the moment I picked it up until the end. I loved the chemistry between Kirin and Blake! The romance between them is believable and not that of fairy tales!

What a great storyline, it's amazing what love and determination can achieve. Blake and Kirin fit perfectly.

I loved this book and highly recommend this excellent book

Blake Matthews has a job to do. That job is Kirin Hart. Well, actually his job is to fix her image as America's sweetheart chef. You see she has become somewhat of a social pariah since being brought up on sexual harassment charges. Blake must prove to her PR firm (Dent and Douglas) that he can fix her image if he is to buy the company. They have two weeks......
Two weeks for Blake to teach Kirin that it's okay to turn her matronly image into that of a 30 something, sexy single lady. Two weeks fo...more

4 Temperature Rising Stars!

A successful, stubborn woman coupled with a devastatingly handsome man telling her to change everything about her, what could possibly go wrong with that combo?  Barbara DeLeo’s Dishing Up Desire was hilarious as well as emotional. And I enjoyed it from beginning to end.
The stakes run high for Chef star, Kirin Hart when she is sued by one of her younger staff members. Her image is going down the drain and she is trying everything to just stay sane and keep her busines...more

“You and I have looked in a hundred mirrors together, but I haven’t seen anything as clearly as when I’m with you.”

This was such an easy and enjoyable read. I will admit at the beginning I had a little bit of problem connecting but once I did I was completely attached to this story and these characters. Barbara's writing is so strong and what she accomplishes with this short story was impressive. I usually have a hard time with character connection in short stories but I am happy to say that wa...more

I was really pleasantly surprised by this book. I'm a fan of the Entangled brand including the Indulgence lines. I know I'm not going to get a bad book when I read them, but this book really surprised me in a good way.

The book starts out in the male perspective of Blake, the image consultant hell bent on purchasing an L.A. PR firm to add to his empire. He's been told his purchase hinges on whether or not he can fix a Martha Stewart type celebrity chef/homemaker's image.

The person needing an ima...more

If you are looking for a well-written romance with characters to love, a great storyline and some nice steamy content, look no further. This ticks all the boxes.

I loved both Kirin and Blake. Following a harassment claim against her, Kirin’s career is free-falling. Stubborn and defensive, she craves control, but underneath the façade is a woman who sees herself as nothing short of ordinary (I loved the fact that she doesn’t have the ‘perfect’ figure) and her true character has become that little...more

Sweet contemporary romance
Celebrity chef Kirin Hart needs an image makeover. Her life has been in turmoil since her husband and ½ of the cooking team died and recently she was sued for sexual harassment by a younger male employee. Image consultant Blake Matthews takes one look at her and knows that this may be his toughest challenge to date. Change is hard but not changing could cost them everything.
Kirin Hart started out poor, married young and is a little naïve when it comes to the image machi...more

Well, I finished Dishing Up Desire by Barbara DeLeo. Honestly, I was on the fence with this story. However, once I started to see the emotions starting to build between Kirin and Blake, I was sold.

The first few chapters when Blake Matthews strolling and basically try to take control, I wasn't sure I was going to like the story. Then you have Kirin Hart who happens to be a tad bit naïve when it comes to her image. Once the story gets going you start to understand where...more

I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. I had a bit of a difficult time getting into this book. I'm really not sure why that is either. The story wasn't bad. The characters weren't either. I was just having a bit of a disconnect that I couldn't really pinpoint. Eventually it swept me up and once it did I grew to enjoy and care about what happened to the characters.

After a horrible sexual harassment scandal from a former, m...more

Chic - Lit at its Finest

More of a novella in length, this is an easy enjoyable quick read giving everything that is desired from a light romance. A PR man and a celebrity chef in trouble is the theme, two weeks is the time frame and a sweet love story is the bottom line. Three-stars for a very satisfying, albeit predictable read.

This book is the perfect fit when you need lighter, nearly instant gratification and a dash of steamy. The characters are instantly likable, especially Dudley, and the...more

*Given to me for an honest review but I am a little late I think*

Oh, well that was shorter than I thought, acknowledgements took up more space than I thought.

So I loved the foreword, but I did expect something else from the book, like a whole different direction because of it. I mean, the actual book is still good, just not what I expected. I loved both the characters, I felt they were complex and real. Although, I didn't really get or like Blake's family issues. I felt like it was just mention...more

Kirin is a domestic doyenne in distress, after a harassment claim has derailed her career; she is in desperate need of the services that Blake can provide. His PR firm is the perfect solution for Kirin’s needs, and fits Blake’s personality well. Through much banter, a mysterious past and an obvious chemistry between the two this story is the perfect beach read.

The future of Blake’s company, and his success, revolves around reworking the often recalcitrant Kirin’s image, a holdover from the imag...more

I enjoyed the story between a younger PR guru and his next client to "fix". Blake Matthews was a former model turned PR expert who's dream is to own the best PR firm in the country. Kirin Hart, a "celebrity Chef" who's career and reputation has taken a nosedive due to an alleged sexual harassment suit (settled out of court) brought forth by a former employee. They will work together to get what they both want in life with just 2 weeks window. Blake wants ownership of the PR Empire and...more

3 out of 5 Licks

This was another one that I thought was just ok. Blake is one of the most metro sexual men I've read about and he treated Kirin pretty crappy. He just came across way to forceful and didn't seem to much kindness in him at all. Kirin may have been down and out in her career but she is a fighter. I really liked that about her. Even when she is at her lowest she won't let Blake have 100% control over her. She gives a little but rem...more

Received from author for an honest review.

This was a quick read and I enjoyed the characters. Kirin, a t.v. chef and widow is facing a negative image because of law suit from one of her previous employees for sexual harrassment. This is how she meets Blake, who is the consultant who has arrived to put her back in a positive light with her fans. From the beginning they bump heads because of her unwillingness to change.

What starts out as two bullheaded people turns into a sweet romance. With mask...more

An enjoyable read. The characters are interesting. Kirin is comfortable with herself as she is. But with a little pushing, she learns new things about herself and becomes a stronger person. Blake thinks he has it all together. But he accidentally discovers the person he truly wants to me. Through it all he comes off as a jerk at times. But he is working through his own issues. Together they bring out the best in each other.

The book is well-written. The characters are likable and believable. The...more

I was given a copy of this book for an honest review.

The story was pretty good. I think parts needed a little bit more work. Some of the parts didn't seem to fit together. The situation that got them together is good. The story on the hero's side is weak and doesn't really get resolved. I found I was more interested in his brother when he made an appearance. The heroine's story is better, but it doesn't seem to get fully resolved either. The problem with the guy who claimed sexual harassment aga...more

At first the set up of this book had me interested. I love food and a strong female lead so things were looking promising. By midway though, I hated the fact she'd become so wishy washy. I couldn't see what he saw in her at all and I struggled to find any believable chemistry between them. He's apparently HOT and she's not and I just couldn't get past that. Nice original plot set up and a pleasant way to spend the afternoon on the couch, but I just didn't believe in the characters enough to trul...more

Kirin needs a image makeover after someone accuses her of sexual harassment. Blake is the one to fix it, but he is hiding a secret. This is a really good story about two people who both need to look inside and find the real person hiding behind their pasts. I love how in the beginning it was Blake helping Kirin and in the end it was Kirin who helped Blake. This was a short story, and a really sweet romance with just the right amount of steam.
Elizabeth
I enjoy the chemistry between Kirin and Blake. They both develop and learn from each other. At the beginning I was having problems staying focus and paying attention but as I got further into the book I got hooked. It turned out to be awesome!!

Barbara DeLeo’s first book, co-written with her best friend, was a story about beauty queens in space. She was eleven, and the sole, handwritten copy was lost years ago, much to everyone’s relief. It’s some small miracle that she kept the faith and is now living her dream of writing sparkling contemporary romance with unforgettable characters.

After completing degrees in Psychology and English then...more
