I don't really read books like this, but I'm SO glad I made an exception for Dark Hearts. This story was dark and scary real. It totally blew my mind at times, making me think "What just happened? HOW did that happen?" It was full of suspense and mystery, death and romance. The author makes you feel things you don't expect. You'll love characters even while you hate them, hate characters while sympathizing with them and pity characters while cheering them on. This book totally messed with my min ...more

I had the honor of beta reading this book and it left me with chills. Being a teenager can suck, even more so when you are mentally unstable and obsessed with death. This is a story of one disturbed young man and the gruesome affect that he has had on the lives of young, desperate girls who are only looking for someone to love.

Dark Hearts takes you on a terrible tour of the internet and a bloody cross country ride. T.R. Stoddard has out done herself. Guaranteed to make you feel a little more un

I was provided with an ARC of this novel in return for an honest review, so here goes:

Yet another dark, thrilling read from Ms. Stoddard, the story revolves around the predator/prey use of the internet and what might happen when you put your trust in the anonymity of someone you meet in a chat room.
This is the reason for meeting people in public places. Things can go terribly wrong, and boy, they do in this story.

And yet, as with all of her stories, Stoddard makes you feel sympathy for the bad g

This is a must read ! The plot keeps you guessing, the characters make you care, and the message hits home. I could not put this book down it made me go through an entire range of emotions. Where it may seem dark it really gives you an insight of what can/does go on. I have to give this 5 stars and a round of applause for T.R. Stoddard !! Loved it !!

This took me a couple of days to read because of work. I really didn't want to put it down because of all the twists and turns. I really love this story. I think it is amazing and people should really check it out. I can't believe everything that happened in here. I can't wait for the next installment for this series. Keep up the great work. :)

Dark Hearts is a story told in two parts, one told from a suicidal 15 year-old girl's point of view and one from a twisted vigilante's point of view. Kara's story reads much like a YA romance, easy to read, both witty and disturbing. It brought forth memories of the film Thirteen (2003, with Holly Hunter). Even so, I wondered when the horror aspect would present itself. Enter Adam. His story is even darker than Kara's.

Much of Dark Hearts is told in a chat room. The characters are well rounded wi

W.O.W. That was about all I could do after reading this book, with my mouth literally hanging open….. I liked it and I couldn’t not read it, but wow….

It’s scary to know that this is probably a very real depiction of suicidal teens and the people out there that prey on them. This book sucks you in so deeply, because let’s face it, we all want to save the kids! I was just completely blindsided by what happens, which is rare for me. I mean the whole idea of a teen meeting up with someone they met i

I give T.R. Stoddard five stars for her book Dark Hearts for her eye for detail and reality in her story. From the first page she had my attention. She brings the risks involved with kids being on the internet too young and the predators that are really out there. As I read Dark Hearts I felt like I was right there with those characters feeling the same pain and feeling of being alone. And although T.R. creates a great Antagonist, I also felt bad for him for everything he brought to the story.

I was given an ARC e-copy of DARK HEARTS by the author in exchange for an honest review. I also bought a copy to support the author. Thank You T.R. Stoddard!!

Wow! What a gripping and dark read. It is unfortunate that all to often in our society today, teenagers from all walks of life, are turning to the darker sides as a way of dealing with their pain.

I was capivated from the start of this story through to the end. Mysterious, suspenseful, twisted, and horrific, I had to keep flipping pages to

"Dark Hearts" by T.R. Stoddard has an explosive storyline. It all felt so real and eery. I was sucked into the world of dark forces. It was irresistible and entertaining. I had to keep reading because I wanted to know what was ultimately going to happen. It was worth the unpredictable ride. Blown away how realistic this was. This could happen and that is the scary part. It’s like watching an auto accident. You can’t take your eyes away from the scene even if it is dark and disturbing. Dark Heart ...more

This wasn't my normal cup of tea, however that being said the way the book was written was good, the characters seemed believable, the flow of the book was good. I didn't like the message behind the book nor did I like the fact that there was teen suicides. Yes at the end of the book there is a website and things you can do to help friends thinking about suicides.

this book I was at first very skeptical about. the way the story was mostly done in instant messaging style. but then it happened. I couldn't put it down. the book was a shocker! a huge twist of a story. I thought I had it guessed correctly about what the outcome was, boy was I wrong! a book worth reading and a good lesson to be learned by reading this story.

I liked "Dark Hearts" by T.R. Stoddard. The characters seemed very life like. The plot was so realistic it was scary! I just couldn't put the book down and quit reading it because I needed to know what was going to happen next. This book was a real eye opener because something like this could happen in real life. I would recommend this book but not for younger readers or for anyone who gets creeped out easily!

This book was not what I was expecting. After reading the synopsis I had an idea of what I thought would happen, but was I wrong! The first 1/3 of the book fit along with what I thought would happen, but it then took a unexpected twist that made my whole idea crumble. The book kept me on the edge of my seat and I couldn't put it down,(although I had to when I was at school...(: ) The ending of the book was a surprise. I fully enjoyed this book and I recommend it for anyone that likes 'dark' elem ...more

Review: Oh, I so was not ready for half way through the book!
It shocked me, I was crying through the first part because I could relate so well and was moved by the words and emotions running through the first part of the book! Then bam! I could not breath for a while. I even had to reread what I read!

Then if that was not enough excitement for me. The ending threw me for another loop.
Now, Im on the edge of my seat yelling at a book that can not talk. It took another turn that I was not expectin

The theme of Dark Hearts was straightforward and relatable.

Throughout the story I found real problems with the flow and its plot. Though I understand the theme it focuses on, and I agree about the dangers of chat rooms, or making friends online with people you don't know, I don't feel like it was transmitted properly.

I think his reasons for doing what he does were not properly justified, I know, a killer doesn't need a reason, but what I really mean is the trigger. He did have a substantial loss

The Basics:

There is an appropriately named chatroom where depressed, troubled, and generally dark hearts can gather. Some come for company and support, others for cheap attention. Then there are those with far more sinister reasons.

The Downside:

There are a few emotional shifts and decisions that are abruptly announced and underexplored, told rather than shown. It’s a short book, even with a few over-long filler chats about books and art. There’d be plenty of room to build up the characters' chan
