I read "The Lake" because a friend recommended it. She lives in Lake Bluff, Illinois, where I lived for six years. That is also where the story takes place.

Ray Bradbury lived in Waukegan, Illinois, a large town neighboring the village of Lake Bluff. I was excited to read how Bradbury, an accomplished author, describes Lake Bluff. I really enjoyed this book, Bradbury is great at "feeding" us with the things we expect to see, but does so in such a wonderful way that it is hard not to "devour" the text in front of us.
