L'histoire met trop de temps à se mettre en place (alors que les 100 et quelques premières pages ne se déroulent que sur quelques jours). C'est surtout la romance, ou plutôt le rapprochement entre les héros, qui tarde trop à venir. L'atout principal de ce livre tient dans ses personnages. Le héros est un libertin notoire et ne cache en rien ses intentions envers la gouvernante de ses nièces, et l'héroïne est franche, droite et n'hésite pas à dire en face ce qu'elle pense et en retour dévoile fac...more

Recommends it for: those who thought the colonies were a bit underrepresented in period romances
This one has a very interesting plot, complete with requisite mystery/crime, but the part that really pleased me most was the author's willingness to look at the rest of the English Empire, and not just as somewhere to be shipping of all the handsome young men/dastardly craven but poor. She also brings in some other typically overlooked things of the era, such as their bizarre obsession with botany, which lends this story a bit of spunk. C’est le premier livre que je lis de cette auteure et je trouve sa plume attractive.
Elle est assez douée pour donner vie aux personnages secondaires qui sont très présents et drôles (j’adore le valet du héros), on dirait parfois un vaudeville.
Les héros sont un peu trop parfaits et je trouve que leur coup de foudre est très cliché mais l’histoire se lit bien avec un rebondissement dans l’intrigue (ce qui fait passer le temps).
