Recommends it for: Outdoors, mountain, adventure lovers
You have to love a book that opens in a wave train and ends in a wildfire. Fitting beautifully in the adventure genre, Double Dare begins dramatically, tension builds, characters clash and grow, and the frightening, powerful climactic challenge is a real page-turner. Madigan knows the territory - the rugged mountains of southwest Colorado - like the proverbial back of his hand, and uses the setting to full advantage. His allusions to real-life people in the Denver area (Rockies baseball, ...more

If you want a rip roaring ride through the beautiful San Juan mountains of southwestern Colorado, pickup Madigan's Double Dare. And if you want one of those can't-put-it-down thrillers that take you into uber dramatic terrain (a wild chase involving several characters as the forest around them burns), pickup this book.

At first I was a little put off by the antagonist; an evil Serbian with a bad accent. Then there appeared two stunningly beautiful women who seemed to step out of a cross between a

Much like the Dolores River that is central to the plot, Michael Madigan's Double Dare takes us on a wild and memorable ride in his first novel.

After carefully setting the scene in the first couple of chapters, the story begins racing like the Dolores during spring runoff.

Blake Cutter's dream-turned-reality is Double Dare ranch in Southwest Colorado, a 160-acre, adult fun park for adrenaline junkies who employ Cutter to challenge them through extreme mountain biking, repelling sheer cliffs and s

Double Dare Ranch in Southwest Colorado sets on 160 acres. Owner, Cutter and close friends sets up challenges. Adults who like challenges are invited to try. All challenges are tried out by Cutter, with a physical handicap of a prosthetic leg, which doesn't slow him down. He challenges himself. Anything goes with safety factors checked out before hand. Adventure thriller to extreme, with disasters and forest fires included. Two beautiful woman are involved, holding his interest. A man shows up ...more

The only reason why I give this book a for is because I didn't like the ending. I don't know if there is a sequel to this book, but if not, the ending was very abrupt.
