Dear Holly,

As I look around the inn, I see garland and mistletoe, colored lights and ornaments–everything I have always professed to despise. You were right to wonder why I would choose to visit The White Barn

Holly Tate owns and runs a bed-and-breakfast called the White Barn Inn. It used to be her grandmother's home, but when she died a few years ago Holly inherited the large historic home and transformed it into an inn. She loves having it open on Christmas in particular, (her parents died on Christmas day six years ago) and she doesn't like being alone on that day. She prefers spending the holiday with people at the inn. So she really throws herself into Christmas, hanging decorations up, setting u ...more

Very good book, slightly reminding me of A Christmas Carol. We have Holly, the innkeeper, who loves Christmas. She has decorated the inn, participates in all the Christmas activities, and just generally seems a pretty happy person. Then you have grumpy Max. He is a self-made successful real estate developer. He doesn't like Christmas at all. He's in town to try to buy some land for a shopping mall, land her inn just happens to occupy.

I liked Holly. She has made a life for herself at the inn. Sh

3 1/2 Stars ~ 99 years ago, Holly's great-great grandfather had built his wife a beautiful house, and ever since a Tate has lived in it. But the land was only leased to the Tate family, it belonged to the Miller's and now on Christmas Day the 99 year lease would be up. When Holly's parents were killed suddenly in a car crash, her grandmother and this house was all Holly had left for family. And then her grandmother passed on as well, so Holly renovated the beautiful home in to a country inn, and ...more

'Twas the Week Before Christmas was a heart-warming, emotional holiday story that grabbed my attention from page one. I was immediately swept into the deliciously quaint Inn and into the hero and heroine's lives.

Holly was a heroine I loved right away. She was independent and successful. She was also had a vulnerability and warmth that shone through in her interactions with those around her. And Max...sigh...I was charmed and fell in love right alongside the Holly! Their connection was instant an

This one took that perennial favourite theme of mine, "Let's save the inn!" and threw in a hero who was the reason the inn was in jeopardy. So highish stakes: her family home and business (which is her last tangible connection to her family) vs. the business he built to prove his self-worth (having been abandoned by his mother and left with an alcoholic father).

Reading a Christmas romance during the Holidays has become a new tradition for me that I started a few years ago, and Harlequin Christmas books rarely disappoint. Of course they are no "A Christmas Carol" by masterpiece standards, but they do warm the heart and keep me relaxed during the busy hustle and bustle of the holiday season. "'Twas The Week Before Christmas" by Olivia Miles looked like the perfect recipe to a warm and fuzzy yuletide tale: a snowy inn, delicious food and hot chocolate, an ...more

Holly Tate owns The White Barn Inn, a cozy establishment in the little town of Maple Woods, Connecticut. The week before Christmas, a handsome guest named Max Hamilton arrives on her doorstep and the attraction is obvious and mutual. Holly knows that Max is in town on business, but she doesn't know that his business purpose involves buying the real estate on which her beloved Inn is built and clearing it to make way for a shopping center. Max is increasingly drawn to Holly's warmth and generosit ...more

Christmas is Holly's favorite time of year. From the red and green decorations to Christmas carols, she savors it all. Having no family left, Holly fills her Inn every holiday season until its bustling with people so as to not be alone. This year is no exception. However, she's pleasantly surprised by one of her guests, a handsome and charming New Yorker whose smile she cannot resist. But Max came to the Inn with ulterior motives, intending to obt

Why this book?

I wanted to read a story for Christmas

What I thought
This book reminded me of a hallmark Christmas movie, and i'm a sucker for hallmark Christmas movies. This was a Cute holiday read. It had a promising premise. It also had great characters . Usually I don't like the female lead but I really liked Holly. As for Max I liked him, but I didn't like that he lied to Holly, but he made up for it in the end. The romance was attraction at first sight instead of instalove which was

Lovable Christmas read!! I loved it. It is a shorter story, but not too short, you really still feel like you get the whole story and nothing is rushed. Holly and Max are perfect for each other, both lonely and in need of that special someone to trust. Max is holding back some truths about why he is in Maple Woods at Holly's Inn. This is not a problem until he starts falling for Holly...that wasn't part of the plan for him originally! Will Max and Holly's brewing love conquer all in time for Chr ...more

Holly runs a B&B made out of her grandmother's house. In a week, she will be able to buy the land it sits on when the 99 year lease expires. Max is a developer who plans on buying the land from the old innkeeper. He has to make new plans when he learns about the lease. Then he has to change his plans again as he falls in love with Holly

I loved this book. I think it is the author's first published book and I can't wait to read more of her stuff. I love the "Grinchy" hero who is trying to take the Heroine's INN from her. I loved how they fell in love, almost a love at first site situation.
