I won't say much because I'm still crying over it, a much needed release. I envied the characters, the relationships, even the struggles that were overcome through those relationships.

In Kate Bracy’s debut novel, That Crazy Little Thing, protagonist Melanie Davis narrates a moving story about illness, longing, and well-kept secrets. When her best friend, Donna, is diagnosed with cancer, Mel must summon inner reserves of strength to provide comfort and closure to a lifelong friend who has been the closest thing she’s had to a sister (and who served as de facto auntie to her rebellious 16-year-old daughter, Jessie). Along the way, Melanie also discovers and must deal with Donna ...more

About the Book:

There’s nothing about her life that doesn’t need a little work, so Melanie Davis thinks of herself as a “fixer-upper.” Her history with men leaves her gun shy; her teenaged daughter can’t string two civil words together; her best friend Donna just found out she has a life-threatening illness. When Donna also reveals a decades-old secret that still haunts her, Melanie makes it her mission to solve the mystery and reunite Donna with a precious link to her past – before it’s too late

Loved it! I grew up on the St. Lawrence River in Alexandria Bay. Loved the parts about "river talks" and I know exactly what overlook they would go to near the Bay as it is a favorite of mine also.

In her novel “That Crazy Little Thing,” Kate Bracy places her readers into a pocket of life easily recognized and understood by most women. Melanie Davis is a single, working mother, dealing with the frustrating highs and lows of living with a teenage daughter. Her romantic longings lead her to spy on her boss and his old friend via a secret email account, and to ignore the potential of a good man to be more than her best friend’s brother. Bracy portrays the heartache and joy of the mother-daugh ...more

An excellent debut—Bracy has created a dynamic novel exploring the crazy little things that shape life.

Melanie Davis appears to be a typical divorcee raising Jessie, her rebellious, difficult sixteen-year-old daughter. She’s also a receptionist to Dr. Eisenhart, a job that she likes and appreciates. Dr. E seems t o be a model human being, until Mel finds herself enthralled in his secret love affair via email conversions. She feels slightly guilty about her actions, however can’t seem to break a

I loved this book. I haven't read a book that has moved me so much in a long time. From laughter to tears... It has it all.

I found this book to be very one- dimensional. Some explorations on the theme of love, but it didn't have much meat, story wise.
