There is a real love story intertwined throughout this tale; not only the love of a Russian movie actress with an American naval officer during the closing days of the war, but also of the love of the daughter in search of her American father.

This story is very special to me because the daughter is in fact my cousin... a cousin I never knew existed un

Wow, wow, wow! This is a must-read book for people who have an interest in compelling true human dramas arising from the craziness of the Soviet Union. Beautiful story about one girl's perseverance in the face of adversity and her commitment to find her father. True stories are always more compelling than fiction.

I absolutely loved this book as a teenager. Probably because I thought it was romantic and forbidden. I wish I could find it to see what I thought of it 30 years later.
