Pacific Coast Highway is a class war, a sex war, a classy ride, all orchestrated by a script doctor named Mackey, aka God. Jonny, motherless scion of white trash, cognoscente of auto insides, superb mechanic, is purchased (yes, bought) by the wealthy, beautiful, ageless (until her age is revealed), powerful Bea. You’re on PCH and Jonny’s ripping along in a turbo-charged BMW, with the accelerator jammed to the floor – and you feel a voice, close and disturbed. It rumbles with an engine that shakes you to the core. From the first paragraph you feel the master writer in control.

The novel has lots of fine pieces that come together creating a complex mosaic. The Bea/Jocasta character strikes one of a vengeful Lillith, unrelenting in her lust for desire and possession. The Innocent Jonny without the 'h' shows all the Oedipus featu

I thought this book was excellent - I started reading it and could barely put it down. It has all the elements of a page-turner; love triangles, danger, suspense.

Jonny is a simple car mechanic who gets "taken in" by a very wealthy woman. He's enjoying the good life at first until he realizes that being a kept man isn't all it's cracked up to be, especially if you want out. He wants more, he tries, and he fails.

In the interest of this not turning into a spoiler, I'll just say I've now read two b
