"When I was a young horse, I thought if I wasn’t always good, I could at least be useful. Then I broke my leg."

When Snoopy was three years old, he won the 2007 Pacific Coast Quarter Horse Association Trail Futurity. His trainer and his owner had his career mapped out—he would be campaigned around the circuit and qualify to be invited to the AQHA World Show.

Then in 2008, S

This is a very special book. Both my kids (10 and 12 year old horse lovers) are reading it right now and loving it too. It is really the author's memoir, as told by her horse, which makes a sweet, funny narrative and works as a great teaching tool.

As he tells his own story, Snoopy evolves from being a foal to a promising show horse, but he sustains an unexpected injury that changes everyone's plans. Snoopy is sweet and a little bit on the dumb side but he doesn't care, as long as he is loved. H

I loved Gayle Carline's book From the Horse's Mouth: One Lucky Memoir, finding it an entertaining read. In turns, it's laugh-out-loud funny, touching, and a great way to learn about life as a horse. Being a "non-horsey" person, I went into this read a little intimated, afraid there would be much I couldn't understand. But Snoopy, a young fellow living in a stable with older horses, had even more to learn than I did. Together, we learned about training, horse shows, why a broken leg is so bad for ...more

I received this book as part of Goodreads -first-read giveaway. Let me start by saying I'm not a horse person. I like horses like I like all other animals, but I am not horse crazy and prefer my dogs company to the company of a large mammal that requires a lot of daily work. That being said, this was a fun and interesting read. It's a memoir told through the eyes of the authors horse, which makes it an interesting read.

The book had many parts where I laughed out loud and also misted up, but it

Sweet story in the tradition of Black Beauty. He has a good life and is well loved. After he breaks his leg he has a long road to recovery. He meets other horses that aren't as well loved or lived as easy as life as he does.
