The Sky Was On Fire is a coffee-table style book documenting the Slave Lake fires. It's strengths are to be found in the generous serving of stories, pictures, and tales directly from those who experience it firsthand. While it suffers from being a little localistic in nature - I would have loved to hear more, for instance, from the firefighters who attended from other cities - it hits the mark of commemorating an event in a profound, community-driven way.
