No day goes by in Ruby Prairie, Texas that passes without incident. If it isn't the twins up to something, it's the other four girls that seemingly team up to wear Charlotte out. But Treasure is moving in to Tanglewood, and thank goodness. There is always more than enough work to go around at this home for girls, and Charlotte Carter could never go it alone.

Charlotte's fifteen-year-old, Beth, is recovering from her escapades and misadventures with her boyfriend Kirby. But a new challenge lies on

Recommends it for: Anyone (but maybe not if you're pregnant)
The second book in Smith's Ruby Prairie series, I enjoyed this one more than the first. It continues the story of Charlotte and her foster girls, but manages to make them seem more real and believable. The issues they have to deal with are serious, and hit home for me.

Annette Smith returns to the town of Ruby Prarie in A New Day at Tanglewood. She deftly dishes out another round of surprises, disappointments, and happy endings that bring warmth and comfort to her readers. It makes me long for a family reunion.
