Oddly enough, I came across this little book in my favorite bar in Barcelona.
Because of the title and the stunning illustrations,I asked to borrow it for a few days.

Although the writer has no officially stated Native connections, I think she captures something in this story that has been lost and is desperately needed,a sense of purpose and meaning that is so often absent from our modern lives. The connection made here between healing and singing is one I have never been able to articulate before

It is a fabulous book. The story is dynamic and fast paced with a lesson for all of us. Sometimes what we would like to do it is not what we ought to and how do we know the difference. It is an easy read!

"Picture books are performances," says Phyllis Root, quoting some sage advice she once received. "They're performances that involve a child--something both of you do. And once I started thinking of them that way, I started getting much looser about making up words and playing around with rhythm."

Phyllis Root picked up an early affinity for colloquial language while growing up in Indiana and south
