The sixth hilarious installment of the best-selling THE PRINCESS DIARIES series. How can Mia bear it? Michael, her one true love, has gone away to college, leaving her to face a new school year alone (well, nearly). With a potential eco-disaster in Genovia, a new English teacher who can't stand her and a totally transformed Boris to get used to, life for the world's most r ...more

WHY do I keep reading these "Princess" books? WHY WHY WHY WHY WHY??? Am I forgetting that

* These books are total fluff books with practically NO substance WHATSOEVER?

* They are intended for teenagers?

* I am no longer a teenager?

* I don't think I will let my daughter read them when she is a teenager?

* My curiosity was fully satisfied by the third book?

Well, maybe I'll let her read the first few. But probably not book four or five, and definitely not six. Yes, I get that it's supposed to be Mia's

Until the last few pages of the book, I was going to give this one star for the simple reason that I just did not like it. At all.

Some of my complaints (this is by no means a complete list):

*I need the adults in Mia's life to step up and start acting like the adults. When Mia came to her mother and was asking questions about sex, her mother probably should have pushed more and given Mia more information. It was CLEAR TO ME that Mia was not handling things well. I just really think Mia's mother s

I couldn't handle this book. I've read silly books as a preteen so I thought I would do ok with this one, but it nearly drove me crazy. There was absolutely no plot, just the diary of a very selfish preteen girl with no real thought. All that happened was she nearly destroyed the ecosystem of her own country and seemed to think that it wasn't that big of deal, and she was afraid her college boyfriend would want to "do it." That was the entire novel. I have nothing good to

Urrrgh. Mia dealt with the issue of sex far too immaturely for someone of her age. This book could have been a lot shorter if she'd talked to Michael in the first place and not just spent all her time worrying into her diary. If you can't talk to your boyfriend about your relationship then why are you in a relationship? This book put me off finishing the series for a long time. Oh, and the election/pop-culture thing? Really annoyed me. This book is very soon going to be very dated.

Ok. I don't know why I'm a glutton for punishment. Or maybe it's the fact that the book is supposedly a popular young adult book series. Or the fact that both movies based on the book really were great!! I guess it's just like some sort of train wreck that I'm just glued to see what happens. So I picked up this book and decided okay I've read the other 5.5 books. I...must...see...what...happens... So I read the book and again the author over using the word "oh my god" is annoying as if this is t ...more

It is sophomore year and what is a princess to do? Between running for Student Class President (thanks to Lilly and her nomination), struggling to pass Geometry which is just as bad as Algebra was, and missing Michael who is now in college all the way across town, life is crazy as ever for NY on royal. But then Lana has too go make it worse by informing Mia that now that Michael is in college he is going to want more than a goodnight kiss...ALOT more!

After reading the first book in this series I

In case you were not aware, I LOVE The Princess Diaries series. I have read all ten books (approximately) a million times, and they are so near and dear to my heart. This series played a huge role in my life (and my sister’s life) as I grew up, and I’m just having a blast rereading them this year.

Princess in Training is actually one of my favorite books in the series—which, yes, I know it’s so meta to have favorite books in one of your favorite series.

In this installment, Mia is dealing with a l

Princess Mia's had a lot on her plate lately...just like always!

This was a well-written sixth instalment to The Princess Diaries, where Mia's life is still as chaotic as ever, but without being so chaotic it's no longer something girls can relate to.

This was the instalment where I really connected with Mia. I suppose it was her birthday that clicked me on in the previous instalment- mine was happening a couple of days after I read it- but as I was reading Sixsational, I picked up on some stuff

I really do enjoy these books.

This one in particular made me realize something. In earlier books, I got a bit fed up with Mia for being so dense about certain things... but somehow, during this volume, suddenly I recalled with perfect clarity (and the advantage of hindsight) how COMPLETELY NAIVE AND CLUELESS I was at that age. I got worked up over all kinds of minor issues, completely read ridiculous things into the smallest comment or behavior, and generally was a giant idiot. Oh yes, that was

Mia is back in this latest Princess Diaries book. In this installment of our favorite self-actualizing princess, Mia is starting her sophomore year of High School. Unfortunately she's starting it without her boyfriend Michael who is now in College. He's a college guy and according to archenemy Lana he's going to expect her to "do it". Not only that Lilly has nominated her to run for Student Council President against Lana. Not to mention the snail incident and the fact that her mom and step-dad a ...more

Mia is back from her summer in Genovia, where she caused quite a stir with her environmental actions. Now that she's back home, she's starting sophomore year and must face a new challenge - Geometry. School is different without her boyfriend Michael, who is in college across town. Also, Mia's best friend Lily nominated her for student council president (against her will), and now Lily and Grandmere are working together on Mia's campaign strategy. These problems all seem minor, though, when Lana ...more

This one was good. I finished it today, and Mia becomes student council president, and her and her boyfriend.... well, just see for yourself. I'd rather not say... hahaha... I think it's the sixth book.......I think.... Then, there's a 6 1/2, 7, 7 1/2 i think and many many more.... So, yeah. These books are really hard to explain, because it really is her diary, so it's just her telling you what's happening in her life, she's aspiring to become a writer, that's why she keeps a journal. Also, the ...more

Unfortunately this is my least favorite. (Not the third book anymore). I read some comments and reviews and they felt didn't like the emphasis on sex. Sex is actually a very common question with teens and there are a lot of insecurities and confusions so I'm glad it was brought it and she did it how Mia would have dealt with it exactly. So there weren't any inconsistencies.

However, I'm hoping there's more character development. I'm having a hard time connecting with Mia. You don't have to be si

I plan to read this book with my teens for one reason: to point out the absolute insanity of wasting your entire life on something as banal as sex. sex is merely one aspect of life and should not eclipse our intelligence or ability to contribute meaningfully to society. I would also use the book to show how sex in our society is so often pushed on women and used as a means of dominance over females. Mia is so plainly not ready for sex yet given so little support and trust. I lost my respect for ...more

Princess for president!
Student body president, that is. It's all the fault of Princess Mia's power-mad best friend and campaign manager, Lilly, who nominates her in the first place. This is not how Mia imagined kicking off her sophomore year, even if Grandmère thinks ruling her high school makes good practice for ruling Genovia someday.
As usual, Mia has bigger problems to worry about, though. Sophomore geometry appears to be just as

Mia runs for school President, gets criticised by her English teacher and worries that Michael is going to dump her for not doing "IT". Boris gets hot, Lilly is still angry about everything and Fat Louie is still fat.

My brain hurts a little. I still have two P.D books left. But the reason I'm reading them is a good one. I brought the first five to a charity shop today. Super efficient me! I now have an eensy bit more bookshelf space.

I liked this one okay - particularly Mia's run for student council president - but I also have a lot of serious qualms, most notably with the handling of the Michael storyline. He's supposed to be the perfectly loving and supportive boyfriend but his whole attitude towards whether or not he and Mia will ever "do it" does not make him seem that way. I've always had a hard time believing Michael and Mia as a couple, mostly because the age difference is SO significant between a sophomore in high sc ...more

Oh dear lord, it's been awhile since I read Book 5, so I had to do some re-reading earlier this day, but ah, everything went okay! I didn't realize how much I loved reading these books. Seriously, they're way much better than the movie (even Mia herself says so in the book!) but anyway, mostly it was all about how Lily elected Mia as a President of their High School, and obviously, Mia was all shocked and saying "no" all over again, Lily as always so self-centered and never actually listening. I don't know why I keep making myself read these books. They're all the same and I don't think I can take many more of these. Mia overreacts with everything anyone says to her. All she cares about is Michael breaking up with her cause she won't have sex with him. Blehh. Did not enjoy this book at all.

This book is about Mia going back to school. She and her friend Lilly don't look forward to much as their year advances. New relationships have occurred and a distance has formed between two individuals. Though things are new as they return, some things seem to remain the same. A competition arrives for student-council president and it just gets tougher for Mia.

The Mia's grandmother is definitely supportive for Mia running in the campaign. In fact, she gave pens

IMO the language and frequent subject matter was just plain inappropriate. I know I'm a prude, but I expect YA books to be "safe" reading. Didn't get past the first few chapters.

Mia was kind of annoying me and so was Lily. I like it when Mia is with Micheal because he shuts her up properly. To where he is not annoying.

This was actually a fairly decent episode in the series so far. I really do like Mia's voice. I know that some reviewers say that she is whiny, but I totally see that as an accurate representation of things. Everything obstacle seems like the end of the world. If the characters were adults, I would tell them to talk to each other and be done with it. But Mia is fifteen and feels awkward, and so she is not comfortable confronting these things.

I do think, however, that Mia's story did not need to

Mia is now in Sophomore year but Michael has moved away to college, he hasn't gone far but it's enough to make it hard to see each other. Lilly nominates Mia for school president, Mia doesn't understand geometry and she may have caused an economic crisis in Genovia. Not only that but the question of moving her relationship with Michael to the next level comes up, and she's not sure she is ready for more.
That is basically all the book is about, Mia's fight to be school president even though she d

Librarian note: AKA Jenny Carroll (1-800-Where-R-You series), AKA Patricia Cabot (historical romance novels).

Meg Cabot was born on February 1, 1967, during the Chinese astrological year of the Fire Horse, a notoriously unlucky sign. Fortunately she grew up in Bloomington, Indiana, where few people were aware of the stigma of being a fire horse -- at least until Meg became a teenager, when she flun
