Fall in love with a cranky veterinarian, right along with the woman and child who capture his heart.

When Meredith "Merry" Preston names her baby Alexander, using Dr. Ben Fairfax's middle name, Ben is emotionally tied to her and her son. It is hard enough that as a vet he delivers a human baby, bringing back all the bad memories from his past. When there is no time to get Merry off the island, the vet does what's necessary which invariably atta...more

I received this book from Netgalley for an honest review.
After reading Shoreline Drive I will buy any book that Lily Everett publishes. Her writing style is fantastic, her characters are well developed, and the storyline flows seamlessly. The story contains Ben, very alpha male, and Merry, a single mom that wants for her child what she never had. I think I fell in love with Ben from the very first chapter. He is gruff and says what he thinks, but when you read from his point of view, you just me...more

Merry Preston is kind of a fly-by-the-seat-of-your pants person, which is why she's very pregnant and hoping to reconnect with her mother. She's convinced her older sister Ella that tracking their mother down is a great thing to do. The women came to Sanctuary Island in the previous book by Ms. Everett, and Shoreline Drive lives up to the expectations set therein.

Ben is Merry's polar opposite, so of course their chemistry is off the charts. And Ben is concerning with Merry and Alex -- he helped...more

Shoreline Drive is the kind of novel that keeps you engaged from start to finish. When you first meet the characters, you know that they are warm and ready to embrace the reader and invite you into their lives.

From the beginning I was whisked away by this author's writing style. Her words flow easily into the mind and allow you to fall into the story without hangups or missteps. I liked the descriptions she used of the island and of the horses, as well as the detail she put into the creation of...more

I really, really liked this book. When crusty but hunky veterinarian Ben delivers Merry's baby, the attraction he has to her deepens and he instantly bonds with her baby Alex. Merry is having problems living with her mother from whom she has been estranged for many years until recently. When Ben proposes, Merry agrees to a marriage of convenience with a one year wait to adopt Alex.
Having read the previous book and all of the novellas, I knew I would like this book. Marriage of convenience is a r...more

I absolutley LOVED LOVED LOVED this book!! I actually love everything that I've read from this author --Lily Everett. This book was about Ben and Merry. We met Merry in Sancuary Island -- she and her sister Emma reconnected with their mother. Merry was pregnant and Ben was the island crank and vet. In book 1 Ben delivered Merry's baby in the midst of a storm because there was no way off the island. Shoreline Drive picks right up on Ben's story -- he really wants Merry and her son Alex (this is B...more

Shoreline Drive was a good read, a story with lots of heart, family, and the love that can form in the most unexpected of places. Merry is a woman that is pulled in many directions, but providing a safe and secure home for her son, one that will allow him to thrive is the most important thing to her now. Ben is a bit of an ass to those around him, but the angry front he shows the world is just to keep him from forming attachments and getting hurt. His decision to escape his old life and close hi...more

This is the second novel in Everett’s Sanctuary Island series, following last summer’s Sanctuary Island . I loved the first book, a women’s fiction/romance with an unforgettable setting that offered the best of both genres. The curmudgeonly Ben and spontaneous Merry are introduced in the first book, and I looked forward to their story. Unfortunately, it did not reach the level set by the first book.

I still like the characters, and while Merry is less the free spirit than she was, I cou...more

This is my 8th book of Lily Everett in the Sanctuary Island setting and they have all been great reading.

The characters are well done, you feel like you are emotionally involved with the characters mainly due to the use of multiple point of view type writing. I have enjoyed all of them but obviously some more than others.

This is mainly the story of Ben and Merry who make an interesting totally abnormal couple that you can't help but be intrigued and frustrated with depending on the scene since a...more

Once I learned that Louisa Edwards was writing in a new sub-genre as Lily Everett, I couldn't wait to get my hands on this book. What Edwards did for steamy-foodie romance, Everett is doing for emotional, heart-tugging romance. This is the second book in the new Sanctuary Island series and again, the story involves one of the Preston sisters, this time, Merry.

This book was charming and heart-breaking and displayed the incredible power of love, forgiveness and healing. I absolutely fell in love w...more

I was provided an ARC by the Publisher and the Author in exchange for my honest review.

"Shoreline Drive" by Lily Everett is a wonderful heart-warming story about love, forgiveness and what really matters most. As I haven't read anything written by this author previously, I was reading this story with no expectations. This author writes a story with such well-developed characters and character interactions that the reader becomes engaged almost immediately.

Shoreline Drive is a sweet "marriage of convenience" story with interesting subplots that keep the book flowing at a nice pace. Although this is the second book in the Sanctuary Island series, it can be enjoyed as a standalone.

After growing up in Virginia, pregnant Merry Preston returns to Sanctuary Island in order to develop a relationship with her estranged mother. She is also helping her mother establish a recuperation facility for horses. Merry has a secret crush on the Dr. Ben Faul...more

Shoreline Drive is the newest book in the Sanctuary Island series from Lily Everett. The release date was January 28, 2014 and the publisher is St. Martin's Press. I was lucky enough to be approved for a review copy from NetGalley thanks to the publisher.
I really enjoyed this visit back to Sanctuary Island. While I didn't love Shoreline Drive as much as I loved Sanctuary Island, I did enjoy the story.
I like both Ben and Merry, but really wish they each had been honest about their feelings for on...more

I was introduced to Lily Everett's stories when I attended RWA Nationals and walked away with a signed copy of Sanctuary Island as my holy grail of the event. I'd heard about the setting of the series, which immediately made me think of my beloved Chincoteague Island and simply had to have a copy. I devoured that first book, and did the same with Shoreline Drive.

Without recapping the entire story, I will say that the aspect I found most satisfying was Ben and Merry's interactions. Their core rel...more

Shoreline Drive is the second book of a series and, while it can be read as a stand-alone, I believe you need to read Sanctuary Island first in order to really understand and enjoy it.

The story focuses on Merry and Ben. Merry is a young single mom leaving with her four-month old baby and her mother. Ben is the island vet and the man who delivered Merry's baby. He's the scruffy kind but of course it's just a facade. The instant he delivers little Alexander he knows he needs to make the baby and h...more

I received an advance reader edition of this book from St. Martin's Press and Net Galley for the purpose of providing an honest review.

I would rate this book 4.5 out of 5 stars. I find that I am becoming a huge fan of Lily Everett's writing. According to Goodreads, this is the second Sanctuary Island book. I have not read the first book and had no trouble keeping up with this book. I have read several of Everett's novellas th...more

This is actually the first full length novel I have read by Lily Everett. It features Ben and Merry who have mutually agreed to marry for convenience. Both have feelings for the other but neither have admitted or acted on those feelings. Merry gets the benefit of a father for her newborn son, Alex, and Ben gets the family that he had all but given up hope of having. Everett's writing quickly draws readers into the story and the magic of Sanctuary Island. I would have actually given this 4 stars...more

What a beautiful romantic read from Lily Everett. I have now read several of her offerings and am fast becoming a fan. her writing style is smooth and familiar, like you're hearing the story from a friend. This was an easy read, and though it is part of a series can work as a stand alone. Lily Everett has created a world and populated it with the kind of characters you can invest your emotions in, real people you might like as friends. The island is more a character than a setting, which draws t...more

Oh, I liked this one. A gruff loner veterinarian with a crush on a sunny younger woman with a baby. He can't emotionally risk so he proposes a marriage of convenience. Fun!

I haven't read the rest of the books in this series but I plan to do so. I didn't need to have read them to enjoy this one.

The heat level is very low and behind closed doors but you still feel the heat. The small town, other characters and the hero and heroine come together to make this a moving romance with very human lovers...more

Loved this book from the beginning. I just wished I had read the first one in the series before reading this one but a book that is one you can read by itself without having read the first one.

Ben is a veterinarian who is called to deliver Merry baby because of the bad weather a regular doctor cannot get there and she does not have time to get to a hospital. After he delivers her baby he decides he wants them to be his finally someday.

A few months later he asked her to marry, but they decides...more

Though I enjoyed the first in the series, SANCTUARY ISLAND, and thought the main characters in this novel were quite likeable secondary characters in the first, I did not enjoy SHORELINE DRIVE. It's an interesting and valiant attempt to write a contemporary marriage-of-convenience narrative, but it fails. This is because the reasons behind the marriage are thoroughly unconvincing, maybe even unsavory. If you'd like to read a more detailed review, please follow the link:

Take one curmudgeonly veterinarian, one estranged unwed mother trying to mend her ways and a town who accepts everyone. Well almost everyone as you will see if you read this story. Ben is an introvert whose mission is to care for all animals, especially rescue animals. Merry and her sister were messed up when Mom left the family due to alcohol abuse. Merry is back with a baby trying to mend broken fences. Ben is called in to deliver Merry's baby and has his past history come back to him. Add in...more

Merry and Ella have decided to stay in Sanctuary Island - Ella with her new love Grady and Merry with their mother and new baby, Alex. Loved the characters, they are real…and as such I was engrossed and vested into the story. Ben is not what you would call a charmer but I liked his gruffness/grumpiness and Merry is not your virginal angel but an imperfect woman struggling to do what’s right. Their “courtship” is unusual, funny and tender. The dialogue and characters were well written and thoroughly engrossing. This was one-sitting read for me. Definite recommend.

This is the first book in this series that I read. I did read one of the novella that are in the same place but didn't get until I read this how they intertwine. I really enjoyed both Merry and Ben. I felt they both had some major issues, Ben more so then Merry. I also felt they turned out to be the perfect fit for one another. I didn't mind Ben's gruff manners, in fact I thought they were kind of funny. I didn't feel the story line was a new one but enjoyable nonetheless. I didn't care for how...more

I am a huge fan of Ms Everett's work & was extremely excited to read Shoreline Drive, the second book in the Sanctuary Island series by Lily Everett. This book recaps a scene from Sanctuary Island that is crucial in the development of Merry and Ben's acquaintance.

Merry is trying to adjust to being an active, present daughter to Jo Ellen -and- being a new, single mom to Alex. She does not want to be dependent on anyone & is beginning to feel smothered and hovered over by Jo.

Ben has suffe...more

Shoreline Drive was a beautiful romantic read.

I've now read a few novella's by Lily Everett and Shoreline Drive is my first real length book. I'm really enjoying her writing style, she gives us characters that you can relate to and story lines that capture your heart and finding yourself not wanting to put it down as you need to keep reading.

I received this book thru Goodreads and they asked for a review.
I have to tell you that I truly enjoyed Shoreline Drive. The author, Lily Everett, quickly draws you in with characters that you can be interested in, and care about their lives.
Dr. Ben Faulkner, while he is a bit crusty and rude, you quickly sense his hurt and damage from his past life. You really want him to find his HEA, and you want him to just be happy.
And Merry Preston, while always seeming to be happy, is searching for a hom...more

Oh I am so glad that Lily Everett continues to write this series and such fantastic books. She has another winner on her hands with her latest book, as Ben, a veterinarian, and Merry, who is pregnant and has come to live with her mother and work at the family stables, meet and get to know one another. Their first meeting does not go well but when Ben proposes a marriage in name only to Merry, it eventually deepens into something else. I truly love a story that gets you involved emotionally and w...more
