I'm a big fan of JML (Joseph Max Lewis). I loved his first book The Diaries of Pontius Pilate and love his writing style. His style was apparent in Just Verdicts as well. I would've given this set of short stories a 5 star rating, but the last of the stories wasn't as good as the other two in my opinion. I got the feeling that the overall point of these three stories is that lawyers as hated as they are, are people too and not just evil, soulless robots out to take your soul. Each of these ...more

Downloaded this a while ago after reading other books by Joseph Max Lewis that I thoroughly enjoyed. In my enthusiasm for his writing style, character development and story telling I failed to notice they were short stories -- not a big fan! Had some time to kill today so I decided to read them. Am I happy I did. Well written and left me wanting more. Broken hearted about the death in redemption! It is hard to lose your best friend. Can't wait to read more by this author.

I never thought I'd enjoy short stories but this one is very good. He does quite well with first person narrative. Although each story (there are 3 of them) is very short, it made me feel like reading full length stories. They are emotional and rich. I enjoyed the book a lot. I hope the author compiles more of these stories. I enjoy legal stories.

Amazing! Three stories that are so real, so heart-breaking...reads like ripped from the headlines. Very good, Max! The author's background sizzles and if you don't know him, you'll want to acquaint yourself promptly.

Recommends it for: Everyone
Shelves: short-stories
Love these short stories. They all have a message. Each could be a full length novel, especially Redemption. :)

4 stars only because I want more, especially from Redemption. :) It's that great. :)

Recommended for anyone who enjoys stories with meaning. :)

Very concise and interesting short stories. Packed a lot in just a few pages for each short story. Book is only about 35 pages. Intriguing stories. Very good!
