Growing up I had dreams that one day I'd fall in love, get married and start a family. Then one night I was taken.

But I survived, I escaped and I was saved. Eric didn't see me as damaged. He didn't see my baby as a monster. He protected me, he kept me safe ... he saved me.

The story is about the rescue, by a naval captain, of a pregnant woman who had been kidnapped and treated as a sex slave for a year and about the woman and captain falling in love.

The good things about this book are:

An unusual storyline--not the same old, same old plot---and, relatedly, the reader's desire to keep reading to figure out what disastrous events will occur and how the protagonists will deal with them.

The not so good things about this book are:

The characters are cardboard cutouts--no

Save Your Time And Money On Something Elsewhere! . . .

The story had great intentions aiming to bring light to the issue of sex trafficking, but it was overshadowed and barely mentioned when another issue in the book took more precedence making the book lack as a whole story. Character development was surface for how deeply emotional the issues were in the story and I never felt connected to any character or really cared too much for how the story would all end. In fact the suspense of "will such

Ms Echart originally wrote this novel back in 2007 titled The Captain's Lady. She received the rights back and the storyline is the same but she did rewrite and change some parts back to the original intent of the story.
Saved- May 11 2013
This is an unusual story that will capture you from the beginning and the way to the end.
The reader gets a sensitive storyline without falling back on coarse, graphic descriptions. And the secondary storyline is done equally well.

There was so much potential for Saved, but the plot & character development just weren't fleshed out well. The drama & conflicts were left unfinished and very anticlimactic. I didn't find Eric a sympathetic character, he's possessive & angry & chauvinistic. He's rude and unprofessional yet highly respected by men and women on his ship, despite his archaic views of a woman's place. Abby was very demure and submissive, & though it was made clear that she had the potential to be ...more

Didn't finish halfway through. The main problem was that it is boring. This book could have been really good too given the unique plot and interesting setting. But it is just terribly bland. And I hate when a guy who supposedly is never really that interested in women is able to suddenly be so interested in a girl basically immediately after meeting her. Especially in these circumstances. The two characters have said a handful of words to eachother, all of which have been incredibly forgettable ...more

This book was so good. It played on all my emotions.

Abby took a trip to Paris after her grandmother died. Walking back to her hotel, she was kidnapped, and sold to be a sex slave. She lived with her master for a long time. Any amount of time to live like that is way too long. It makes me sick to think, that this really happens. She managed to escape from a boat they were on.

Captain Eric Hamilton was the Captain of the USS Larsen with the US. Navy. His crew spots a life raft bobbing in the ocean

Abby was taken captive one night while traveling and was held captive as a sex slave. She was finally able to escape but then she was stranded in the middle of the ocean while 8 months pregnant. She was found and rescued by a Naval ship. The Captain Eric was instantly drawn to her and compelled to protect her. Eric has some misguided views about women in the Navy. He doesn't feel that they should be there he feels that it is too dangerous. Therefore, he has made many enemies with the Female Nava ...more

I hate to say this, but this was horrible book. It starts off with a pregnant Abby found floating in the ocean. A US Navy ship finds her and brings her on board. They find out she is an American who was kidnapped a year ago while she was vacationing in Paris. She was bought and sold to a man known as a terrorist. The Navy Captain, Eric, is taken by her. This surprises everyone bc of his very public views about women and women in the military. Women should be at home taking care of the kids and c ...more

I spent last night looking around for a new Kindle book and stumbled onto this one. When I read the sample I was hooked and downloaded it. This book really grabbed me, I spent all day today trying to grab moments during work where I could read more on my phone. The characters are wonderfully created and everything felt natural and real. There is some language and a sex scene (which was a little silly at times) but that did not diminish my enjoyment of the book.

This story started off pretty good, but it fell short. Abby was kidnapped in Europe and spent about a year as a sex slave. She escaped her owner and is found by a naval ship under the command of Eric. Abby is very pregnant and Eric immediately puts her under his protection. The story had such potential and could have moved in a number of directions, but I felt it went nowhere.

After reading the book, I realized I still know nothing about Abby. Her past before her kidnapping was ignored

2, 2.5 stars. Part of my disappointment was this simply isn't my kind of story. While the idea was good, and there was plenty going on, it simply lacked the action and emotional connection I desire when reading. I feel like the author kind of missed out on so much that military characters and stories have to offer. The characters should have had so much more depth, and while we were told about the relationship between Joe and Eric, man...I didn't feel it or witness it. Our girl was fine, but aga ...more

A very well written love story

I thought this book was great at bringing attention to a very real growing problem that has only gotten worse since this book was written. The story that unfolds after Abby is rescued is a story of love and how it can change even the toughest man. Will definitely read more by Ms. Eckhart

I liked the unique story line and was intrigued by it. Enough to finish the book and move on to book 2. I didn't rate it higher because there were some writing style issues that bothered me. As another reviewer said there was attention put on sub plots that didn't really add to the story or lead to anything. There was also some very important parts of the story that were brought on very suddenly with no lead in to the emotional state or thought process that brought you there. And finally some pa ...more

I enjoyed this book for the most part. There were a few times where I didn't understand how or why it was progressing the way it was so it left me feeling a little less involved but overall I think it was very well put together. The ending could've been left slightly more "open" or "threatening"... at this point, even though I liked the ending it didn't leave me salivating for the next installment. I would recommend this book to anyone that enjoys a nice, calm read with a happy ending. It was th ...more

A different love story with a great start. Labelled as "Romantic Suspense" you don't find anything sexual in the first 9/10 of the book. There's neither much action. You get a glimpse of the life on a navy ship. Eric is described quite well as an honorable but unbelievably oldfashioned captain. We learn about his past and some of his thoughts but we don't learn anything about Abby - and her story should have been the more interesting.
Then there's this terrorist every reader will be waiting to s

Saved is a romance novel set aboard an American Naval ship; between a young pregnant woman that is found in a dinghy out in the Arabian sea and the Captain of the ship. The writing is average told in various characters POV; there are some editing and grammar issues but not so much that it takes away from the story. The plot is interesting however quite unrealistic and inaccurate. I love a good military romance and this story had potential but I can not ignore the inaccuracy of Navy procedures no ...more

Good story

The negative reviews for this book almost dissuaded me from downloading it, but I am pleased to have ignored them and read it anyway. The book is told from the hero's point of view. The captain is the good kind of alpha male who doesn't use his chauvinism to oppress women, but to protect them. Abby's likable, if not a particularly distinct character. The friendship between Joe and Eric is great.

All in all, this is a good book. It's predictable, but the tale is still well told.

After much debate, I read this story. I had read other reviews indicating that it is woman bashing (my words not theirs), especially the behavior of men to women in the military. While I agree that the portrayal of women in the military in this story isn't what it should be, it is fairly consistent with what I know about the treatment from that time period. It is getting better now, however there is still a long way to go.

I liked some aspects of this story. The focus on human trafficking is real

Would be 5 stars except...

there is just too much of the story that is just not believable when it comes to all of the military aspects. However, setting that aside, the character development was good and the editing was pretty good. There are a few mistakes, but they aren't that bad. The side story is very well done and adds wonderful depth to the overall story. The romance is nicely done and kept clean until the end, however the sex scene is not overly graphic and shows the beauty of a loving a

Firstly, I was intrigued by a plot which had something different going for it - a young, pregnant woman is rescued by a USA Navy warship, and it turns out she was kidnapped and sold as a slave to a Muslim terrorist. She is found after drifting in a dinghy for two days and taken into the hospital of the warship.

The captain, a man who doesn't like women in the Navy and is fond is telling everyone about his feelings falls for her (of course)and things go downhill from there - just when they should

I think there are topics in this book that absolutely need to be shared and talked about. I just didn't care for the story between the manly man who doesn't have a high opinion of women and the poor girl who needed to be saved. That said, it did touch on each character's history a bit to give you a small idea of why they were that way. I would have enjoyed more of that history of each character and then watch the baggage of their struggles intertwine with each other.
