I can say the main topic is Religion in a pluralistic societies, and more specifically, monotheism ( Bauman uses this word in a broader sense to include any world view which represents and defends that truth is one and only one, and not just in the religious sense ) and polytheism. He criticizes the former and praises the latter as the appropriate solution to our pluralistic world. I have no idea what the purpose of this book was. I was expecting a dialogue about the role of religion in contemporary society, but this is mostly a jumble of theological-philosophical speculation. Bauman's coauthor is so reverent that there is little actual challenging of ideas. Avoid.
