Strange little tale. Why would Grethel marry Hans after he throws animal eyes at her? Ewww. Girl needs principles and a wiser husband.

If anyone has the title "Clever" in their name don't believe them. They're actually really dumb.

The main characters are Hans and his friend Gretal, but Clever Hans is very different from the more familiar tale of the Hansel and Gretal siblings. This story sheds light on why boys might decide not to do as their mothers tell them. And one is left wondering why 'clever' is in the title of this tale.

I have the complete set of the Grimm Fairy-Tales, and there are so many that I haven’t read! They are very short, as one would know, so I have decided to read each one and give them a review. Some are very vulgar, some are very cute and some don’t even make sense. Some of them are well known fairy-tales and some have never been told. Some are fairy-tales we know but are not the same because they have been downplayed for the children.

a dull and repetitive story, i just couldn't wait to finish.

hans goes to see gretel six times, bringing nothing with him but demands things from her. hans either loses the item, or destroys it. his mother tells him how he should have handled each gift, but he follows her advice...but misunderstanding her advice and either breaks or loses the items anyway. gretel eventually runs away and will have nothing to do with hans again.

and that is the only good part of the story, because really, he gives

Jacob Ludwig Karl Grimm, German philologist, jurist and mythologist, was born at Hanau, in Hesse-Kassel (or Hesse-Cassel). He is best known as the discoverer of Grimm's Law, the author of the monumental German Dictionary, his Deutsche Mythologie and more popularly, with his brother Wilhelm, as one of the Brothers Grimm, as the editor of Grimm's Fairy Tales.
