[This review is based on an original version of the novel provided by the author.] Twelve Days - The Beginning is an emotional whirlwind of a novel. At first, Elise Grayson seems to have it all: great marriage, great job, great friends, great looks. But author Jade Reyner doesn’t take long to start peeling back the layers of deception in Elise’s life, as she tries and fails to keep her secrets. First, her best friend and favorite “eye candy,” Cole Andrews, sees through all her lies; ironically, ...more

Romance novels have never been something I've been interested in, but after receiving a complimentary copy from the author, found I rather enjoyed it. Overall, this book was very good. There were no instances of the author `telling' and not `showing'. The amount of detail and thought put into the plot is astounding. Some of the characters I hated from the very beginning until the bitter end, and then there were the characters I couldn't help but fall in love with. The main character, Elsie, ...more

I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Since my first review of this book that author has updated it to include the chapter/scene that I felt was missing. This new chapter/scene describes in detail Elise abuse at the hands of Dale. I feel this now adds to the story, it allows the reader to connect more to Elise and her story and gives the book a much more emotional edge. Therefore I would now give this book 4 stars instead of 3.5 stars.

Romance novels have never been high on my list of genre to read. But when I read Briana Versted's review on Amazon (, I made a decision to read Twelve Days -- The Beginning. I had already connected with Jade Reyner through her blog and knew that I enjoyed reading her posts, and why shouldn't I enjoy reading her book.

Thanks to Briana's own admission of not always enjoying romance novels, I accepted a copy of Reyner's book and proceeded to find a well writt

It is not my habit to read contemporary romance, but this novel struck a chord with me as a health care provider, because it deals with so many contemporary issues that affect women’s health. Marriage, romance, desire, love, domestic violence, loss, and hope are explored in a modern day setting.

The book is technically sound, well written and well edited. Some of the characters are deeply developed and some are superficially shallow, and that is how people in the real world strike me socially,

Since writing this review the Author has updated the Novel to include the abuse mentioned 《see below》 which has seen my rating advance to 4 stars.

The first chapter had me intrigued straight away with mentions of things to expect in the story. Gorgeous, funny, caring best friend, jealous co-worker, and an abusive husband.

The character descriptions were short and to the point, along with character back-stories, which was good as I tend to skip through lengthy descriptions.

I'm not sure why I keep really cheating stories when I really not comfortable with it at all and always find a hard time relating to the main characters. In terms of the story, I understood why Elise stayed in her abusive relationship because she didn't want to break her vows of for better or for worse, till death do us part. But after 5 minutes of being alone with Vaughn, you're already making out with him?! It just annoyed me because she kept going on and on about not wanting to leav

When Elise Grayson's life collides with sexy Vaughn Granger it's the beginning of twelve emotional and dramatic days leading up to an explosive Christmas that turns Elsie's life upside down. Twelve Days - The Beginning is a powerful story that's not always comfortable to read but is threaded with sexual tension and a cast of love them or hate them characters.

I thought it was clever the way Jade Reyner built up the sexual tension for a good while before the first full-blown sex scene. This allowe

Twelve Days is a contemporary romance which deals with domestic violence. All the action takes place in just 12 days. It suits the pace of the book by revolving around Christmas, a fast paced time of year when people often throw caution to the wind. I was appalled at the violent situation that Elise remained in, but I realise that there are many women in the world who do suffer from domestic violence. This book reaches out to them and if it gives just one person the strength to break free then ...more

I had read the first chapter on Wordpress, so I had an idea of what to expect. What a white knuckle, emotional, rollercoaster ride it became. It runs the gamut from riveting romance, mystery, intense drama, action adventure to erotica, all done to perfection. I felt like I was inside the characters, with their passions, self doubts, actions and reactions. This is a ride not to be missed.

I eagerly anticipate, and will definitely purchase, the second book in the series, "Twelve Days -- The Future"

I really liked this book, made me go through a roller coaster of emotions. However it left me on a sour note for the fact that I want to know what is next and can't find it anywhere.

I'm Jade Reyner and I have just self-published my first fiction novel which is an erotic romance/thriller and let me tell you, it's been a huge roller coaster of a journey!
I have always loved reading and can't remember a time when I've not wanted to write a book. I was inspired by the premise that we 'all have a novel in us' and after undertaking a Creative Writing course I picked up my novel shap
