This is a fantasy short story featuring a childhood version of a character (Lerebus Shieldbreaker) who plays a large role in some of Johnston's full-length fantasy series books, The Ursian Chronicles. This is something of an origin story for the character, or at least part of that origin story, and I believe there are more stories related to this one although this is the only one I've read so far. As a standalone short story, a rather generic tale. Parents killed, village destroyed, a young boy sets off for vengeance. But the writing did leave me wanting more, so I guess it accomplished its task.

Note: I did get this item free and would not have been happy paying the regular $0.99 price for an 16-page "book".
