Basic plot: two little old ladies while away their golden years by taking care of their nephew Teddy and actively pursing their charity work. Never mind that Teddy thinks he's Teddy Roosevelt and their charity work consists of poisoning little old men.
This is one of the most wonderful bits of dark humor I've ever read. It's laugh-out-loud funny (even when just reading it) and still manages to be creepy. Oh the irony, oh the death, oh the references to Boris Karloff...

This is a play. An awesome play. I have no idea when I read this, but I remember it's still good readin' even though it's supposed to be acted out. I shan't destroy the awesome plot for you, but even if I did you'd still be able to experience the awesome. And I think I've seen parts of the movie....I'm not sure though. Yay!

This is such a wonderful idea for a couple of assasins to play with.
They did a great job with the film also.

Absolutely hysterical! Love it, love it, love it. Seemingly sweet little old ladies with murder on their minds is a darkly funny premise for a play. The film version with Cary Grant definitely does the play justice, though reading (or better yet, seeing) the play itself is an absolute delight.

Another great, hilarious play! I had seen the movie with the same title, but had never read Joseph Kesselring's play. I was delighted that the movie is almost an actual performance of the play! I really enjoyed reading the play and am looking forward to when the movie shows up in my Netflix again!
Recommended for beginning drama readers (very madcap & I hesitate to say it.. zany) and for fans of the movie, especially. People who enjoy reading plays would not find this as high-brow as More...

A brilliant play, chock full of black humour and farce.
Though the characters appear scatterbrained and crazy the way the author portrays them they are quiet believable.
A very easy to read and enjoyable comedy.

What a great play (it was written as a play originally). Fun and very entertaining. The characters were priceless. If you get the chance, read it!

Another really, really funny one. I admit to loving the Cary Grant film version as well, but Teddy Roosevelt totally steals the show.

I have to say I'm a bit biased because I played Aunt Martha in my school's version but I love this play anyways.

Who DOESN'T love crime-fighting polite old ladies? Pass the tea and crumpets!

What can I say that hasn't been said already? I like the notes that give the troupe options, particularly the one that allows them to change a character's circumstances of birth from bastardy to issue of a widow.

Sometimes comedy is a mystery. If someone pitched you the idea of a couple of sweet little old ladies who are serial killers, and their brother who is psychotic in a mild way, you're not likely to go for it. And yet the play works. I'm not sure it can ever fail. Go figure.

I have heard that this book is hilarious! It is, I guess, about a couple of old ladies who kill people to put them out of their misery. Weird, but cool at the same time! I can't wait to read it!

This is one of my absolute favorite plays and it was such a pleasure to read it finally. A hilarious family dramedy set in the 1940's. Just as good or better than the film version featuring Cary Grant.

This play is very humorous. I enjoy the slapstick comedy and dark humor it contains. I just hope my students and the deep study this play will require to produce will not ruin my opinion!

Honestly? Old ladies as serial killers is funny, but it gets kind of old after you know an hour. Maybe it's better on stage.
