This is a tragic story, but it gives a glimpse of the undeniable divine protection of George Washington. This short book is about a battle (massacre) during the French and Indian War. The British officer, General Braddock refused to listen to warnings that Indian scouts were needed, as they could be ambushed on their march to attack a French Fort.

Washington was an officer under Braddock, so he was on a horse and in the advanced party. They were ambushed about 7 miles from the fort by a small nu...more

This was a short read but I really enjoyed it. It tells the story of the French and Indian and highlights many of the elements of George Washington's involvement. Through this story David Barton highlights the concept of George Washington's divine protection.

For more specifics of the story you can read the book. I thought I would share a few of the quotes from the book that highlight his protection from God.

From George Washington himself:
"But by the miraculous care of Providence I have been prot...more

One of the many (many!) things that fascinate me about history, and historiography, is the idea of 'Divine Providence.' Americans have, from our inception, believed that God has blessed America in some unique way, and that our nation's destiny is, somehow, divinely inspired. Now, whether you believe that 'Divine Providence' is true, or even possible, is irrelevant: many people have believed it, believe it now, and will continue to believe it. It's in our national DNA, for good or ill. And, lest...more

They say this true story of a young George Washington was included in American school textbooks until 1934. It takes only a couple of generations for a story to be lost, and so that has happened with this one. Seeing God's hand in history and Washington's powerful belief in divine providence is something my children did not miss. I read this aloud and talked about it with them.

Incredible stories of young George Washington. A surveyor and a soldier, but also a leader who was creative, intelligent, driven, disciplined, and protected by Divine Providence. Some really incredible accounts from original sources and first hand accounts. Stories to pass down to the next generations so they know the character of our First President.

This was a short (70 page) read, but it left me with a better understanding of the Seven Year's- French and Indian- war. I especially enjoyed the Native American's accounts of how they realized the 'Great Spirit' was protecting George when they were unable to shoot him in battle.

David Barton does a god job documenting the ways God protected our first President. Having just finished "Scared Fire," I did find this book, "The Bulletproof George Washington lacking a little. I still would recommend it to those who enjoy history and/or George Washington. Of course you should visit www. wallbuilders.com.

Great book on the divine plan of God for those who came to this country for freedom OF religion, not freedom FROM religion. This story used to be in school kids history books, but, no more. Thanks to David Barton for keeping our Christian history alive and well!

This is a short book and very easy to read. Focuses on Washington's heroics in the French & Indian War and how with the assistance of Divine Providence made him bulletproof and eventually, led him to ascend to being the Father of our country.

Where was I in my school history classes? I learned so many awesome details by reading this book. I was inspired to read it while looking at the bookstore at Mt.Vernon. I love to see God's hand in the preservation of this incredible man.

Testimony given in this short but clear account of God's protection of the future first president is something that many school kids don't hear in this present day. The book was a great recommendation.

One of my favorite accounts of George Washington and what guided this man to be the best president upon whose shoulders the United States of America was founded.

We read this when we were doing American History. Well done. David Barton is one of my favorite authors of books on American History.

Great book to introduce your kids to George Washington.

Great book for learning about the early fighting years of the man who would become the Father of Our Country. Specifically about God's protection over him in the French and Indian War.
Kristi
Good book. It's about the providential protection of George Washington during the French and Indian War. Witness accounts from Indians and Chiefs who fought for the French in the brutal British loss for Fort Duquesne. This was a nice small book, quick read, and I liked the Godly prospective.
Alison
A must read for those who don't know the history of our nation's first president. This book looks at his years during the French Indian War where he was miraculously preserved and where the stage was set for his future leadership and courage.

A very short look at one of George Washington's early military battles (1756), and how God manifested himself to protect this man for "greater things". I recommend a biography to learn more about his life.
Dad
A fascinating story of our first president George Washington who was watched over in time of war. Why isn't the power of God mentioned in our history classes today?
Analisa
Very quick read (less than one hour). Has several quotes from different people that Washington could not be killed in battle! Amazing!

This book can actually be read like a story rather than a informational text. I really underestimated it.

Fascinated me when I was all into Indians and black powder rifles.
