Secret babies and the people who made them is the driving force behind a compelling family drama set in rural Ireland by Irish author Margaret Hawkins. Deny Me Not tells the story of Hannah Casey, a 40-year old nurse raised in a children's home who sets out to get her natural father, Abraham Stephenson, to acknowledge her. Set in Ireland during the Celtic Tiger years but goes back to the 1960's when Hannah Casey was born in a Mother and Baby home in Dublin, this is the story of her relationship with her mother, her quest to find out who her father is and her attempts to get him to acknowledge her afterwards. I didn't want to put it down.

Brilliant read a real page turner. The characters were so believable you could picture them....obnoxious....good neighbour.....reliable friend.....bully.....bullied......and as the author herself says...a cut above buttermilk!!

Cute story, overly long

While the story is interesting, the author has written a lot of redundancy into the book by re operating the plot from different character's perspectives. Not great literature, but sometimes entertaining anyway.

A definite page turner ... couldn't put it down. Interesting characters, exasperating, lovable, curious and downright hateful .... all life was there.
A 'must read' book.
