Whatever today holds, as long as the day holds you, I want it. I want today only.

Rye Silcox is dying. At twenty-five, a single mother with a ten year-old daughter, Rye's time is short. Love and romance are the last things she's thinking of, or thinks she needs. Enter Jett Connor. After four years in the army, Jett a former classmate of Rye's is now a physical therapist.

A lovely, poignant story with a gentle, sweet romance. Not perfect, but touching. Both the H/h are impossibly wonderful, with s

So it has taken me three days to be able to write this review. This book hit home hard and it is a book that everyone should read. To be able to experience pain, love, hope, and memories is what this book gives. It gives closure and opens your eyes to new beginnings and endings. The thought behind "today only" is more overwhelming than you'd think. I loved this book, I'm not saying that as an understatement. I cannot begin to tell you how real this book is and how much I cried. I had no idea how ...more

This is such a lovely, tender and poignant book. It's also beautifully crafted and written - from the very first sentence, the elegiac themes of the beauty and transience of the natural world, MC Rye's love for her daughter, and the importance of family, are set forth and then lovingly and lyrically elaborated as the story progresses. There was a quote on Facebook today from Colin Firth (who knew the guy was a reader, right?) saying how when he's reading a book he sees the whole world in a diffe ...more

My time here is dwindling. Everything around me - my body, the transition from winter to spring, the height chart marking the growth of my daughter, Emily - reminds me that the hourglass that is my life has only a few grains of sand left.

I have already finished Today Only in it's entirety twice. From the very first paragraph, this author took me on a ride. It took me into the life of a young woman - mother, daughter, sister and friend, who's struggling with a terminal illness that threatens

Let me just say when I was offered to beta read this book I was a girl full of emotion. I was screaming and crying happy tears. I felt so honored to be given the chance to read this book. I was also warned tissues were going to be needed. Boy was D ever right there. My eyes are still all puffy and swollen and my eye make-up is now running down my cheeks and pretty much just smeared all over my face. Pretty right!

Wow! Where do I start.. How about with Rye and Em. A young mother and daughter who,

I don't know where to begin. I don't normally read books that don't involve supernatural beings or horror, so this book was a completely different experience for me. Within the first few pages, I fell in love with little Em, and from there, I fell in love with the whole family that is in this story. The premise of the book is about a young woman who is terminally ill and how she and her family, including her little girl Em, deal with it. In the midst of this, she becomes "friends" with a man that ...more

I just finished reading this book. It usually takes me some to write a review for a book, to find the right words to say over a book, because I want to say the right words to describe any book I read. With this one, I fear I won’t know have the perfect words to give it justice. I feel so overwhelmed to right a review right after reading it, because I want everyone to know how good it was. Well not good, but great, amazing and other fancy great words to describe this book. The author did such a b ...more

Thank you D. Love for giving me an ARC copy of Today Only. I can honestly say this is the best book I have ever read and trust me I have read a lot of books. I do not think I will ever be the same after reading such a beautiful and heartfelt story. I am still crying and trying to type through the tears. Be prepared to have a huge box of kleenex with you when you read this book. D tried to prepare me and now I am passing this on to you.

Rye has an illness that will inevitably take her life. She li

My thoughts on the book Today Only by D Love. There are no words that could begin to do this book justice. The author is a very caring and helpful person that is always there to help out a author on pimping their books or doing release parties as a blogger. Well the tables are turned, this is her first book and it was amazing. You can truly get into the feelings and emotions of the characters. I love how she gave Rye and Jett such a three dimensional dynamic. You could feel the reluctance that R ...more

I was honored to have the chance to read an ARC of this book, and the first thing that comes to mind, is that D. Love is one of the most amazing people I have ever known! Today Only, is one of the most heartfelt, heartbreaking, and awe inspiring stories I have ever read. The book is about a young woman who has been diagnosed with an inoperable brain tumor, and the way that she and those who love her, cope with the diagnosis. More than anything, this is a love story. Love, in all forms, and the i ...more

Sweet, emotional and heartbreaking. This is guaranteed to have you reaching for those tissues in no time. A short and a gut wrenching read.

Warning:
Do not read this book while in public. If you do, make sure you have dark glasses and lots of tissue on hand.
It’s been a very long time since a book has made me emotional. Even though the reviews for Today Only stated that it was an emotional read, I still took the chance and read it on a flight back home. Thank goodness I had the window seat and long hair to hide behind, because by the end of the story… I was a sobbing mess.

Today Only by D. Love

Beautiful and heartbreaking. This story touches your soul and grabs on and does not let go until the very end.
It tests your faith and your thoughts. It makes you laugh, cry and fall in love. It makes you fall in love with life. It allows you to become part of the journey of living each day for Today only.

I was gifted a copy of this beautiful story. I enjoyed my journey with Rye and Jett. I was endeared each time her mother read to her at night and held on just a little ti

Today Only takes you on one hell of an emotional roller coaster ride!! There is so much heart ache and joy, that at times you don't know whether to laugh or cry so you just do both. One thing is for sure, you better have a box of tissues near by while reading this one! If you like Nicholas Sparks, A Walk to Remember then you will fall head over heels in love with Today Only. D. Love brings awareness to an illness that hits close to home to many. I was able to connect with most of the characters ...more

It's Mother's Day. And so, as a treat to myself, I set aside some time this afternoon to read Today Only by the lovely Ms. Love.

Before I go into my review on the book, let me begin by saying that I was "cautioned" before reading this book. A tear-jerker, grab your tissues Kim, "I don't think you can handle this right now.". All statements that had me even more intrigued to tackle this one. And all valid statements. Everyone that knows me knows how emotional I can be. And to add to that all, I j

Today Only by D. Love was a very emotional read. It was amazingly beautiful, heartbreaking, and uplifting. And it was wonderful. The story follows Rye Silcox, a young woman dealing with a terminal illness. Rye is supported by and surrounded by her family - her mom, her 10 year old daughter, her sister & her sister's husband, and her young niece. Rye also finds support and love through a chance meeting with an old classmate - Jett.
The strength that Rye and her family shows while dealing with

For those who do not believe in word of mouth -- let me tell you it works.

I got a copy of this book based on a friends gushing about the book. She is an author and not the gushing type. So I immediately took notice.

I read it in installments up to 75% since I cried already near the start when the main protagonist and her daughter got in a motor vehicle accident. At 75% though I gave up and read till the end.

I ended up balling my eyes out and promising myself to stop and see the beauty in everyday

This book has left me bawling my eyes out and I really don't know how to gather myself to write this review. From the moment I began reading it I knew the outcome of the story, and like death in life, you still are not prepared, even though you know what is going to happen. I am feeling raw and numb, and Today Only is a story that will make you feel like you are actually living it through and through. You love, you laugh, you cry and you mourn, just like the wonderful characters in this book. Th ...more

Where to begin? *deep breath in* Let me first say, this isn’t my normal genre. I do enjoy some contemporary romance but for the most part, I stick to fantasy/UF/PNR and such. D. Love’s debut novel has left me wrecked, shaking and in utter awe of her talent. With my R2R schedule, I tend not to have the time to re-read books but I just couldn’t help myself with this one!

I received this book as a gift and to give an honest review. Well, I am one in giving reviews I don't like to give away what the book is about but this book is different. I feel like the book is based around my life. First off a 5 star review isn't as high as I would give this book. Very well written and touched home in a lot of ways. When the book starts off Rye has a daughter Em and they both live with Rye's mom Dee. Rye has cancer. She runs into Jett a guy she wen

5 Star Guest Review by Dawn Mazzeo

I had no idea what to expect; I knew nothing about the story or the author. This book turned out to be such a gem. It reads like a memoir from two perspectives Rye (a woman dealing with a serious diagnosis) and Jett (the hot, military man aka "BBQ" because he is a fine piece of meat) who falls in love with her.

"Jett asks her daily, "What's one thing beautiful you've seen today?" "The sun," I reply self-conscious. "You want to ask me?" He moves closer as he speak

I honestly have to say I am at a loss for words. This debut book from a wonderful inspirational woman in everyday life has managed to make me laugh, cry, scream and just plain fall in love with the characters all at the same time.

You have two characters that just draw you in, actually you have 3 characters. Rye a single mother who is fighting to live a life to the fullest with an expiration date far too soon. Jett a man who just seems lost with his life, he has done the military life and now bac

Let me start with saying this is another book that deserves 10 stars.

This book is so sweet, amazing, and touching. Rye is an amazing girl and it sucks what she has to go threw but thankfully she has the best family EVER. Jett is an amazing man. He is the perfect gentleman and loves with all he has. He never gives up and makes life beautiful for everyone else.

This book was outstanding, I can not believe this is D. love debut novel. I have to start by saying I struggled with reading this one. I purchased it but new what the story was about and with where my family is at currently I was not sure if I could go through with reading it. This book had me from the dedication of the book the the last line and then some....The emotions of each character is felt. You cry with each one of them, laugh because somewhere you can hear that funny line ,and feel the desperation of them all... The one thing that is for certain is that love knows no bounds, the love a mother has for her child...and the love a stranger has for another is told in such a way that is awe inspiring... Rye finds love when she doesn't know she will need it the most ...more

Wow. What a POWERFULLY BEAUTIFUL debut novel, D Love!!! I am not sure how to word a review about this as I am still raw from reading and finishing it nearly 5 hours ago. This book is one of those that makes you look at life and remember that you are not just here to exist... you are here to LIVE and appreciate every day and what God blesses you with. I know, too often, that we tend to get wrapped up in our daily grind and forget to see the beauty in each day. I try to stay positive, focus on the ...more
