Reed Brennan knew being elected president of exclusive Billings Hall would change her life. What she didn't count on was being dumped by her boyfriend, Josh Hollis, or being held responsible for a fire that destroyed Easton Academy's oldest building.

I like it—the characters, the storyline—but I feel like there’s too much drama. It’s hurting my head, and I’ve had enough jaw-dropping confrontations/moments to last me for a few more weeks. It seems hard to pin these stories as realistic—yeah, border-line-realistic is more like it. And though it’s a fun read, it’s about as dramatic as an episode of One Tree Hill and Gossip Girl but minus the talented actresses/actors and background music.

Sigh…the series I once loved seems to be going downhill at this point in Reed’s time at Easton Academy.
The seventh book Ambition opens after the infamous Legacy ball. The ladies of Billings come home from the ball to find the building they used to sneak off campus earlier that night on fire. Because Reed is Billings president, it’s up to her to save the dorm since the new headmaster of the school wants to close Billings down.

So, the only reason I gave this book 3 stars is because Reed finally got what she deserved towards the end. But even then, I didn't think what she got could have been compared to the smackdown I wanted to give this girl.
Reed's blind faith in Noelle is not only disturbing but annoying. And as much as it has been tested, in the past books and in this book, she still stands strongly by Noelle. However, in this book, it's a little different as she finally starts fighting back instead of ...more

This is one of my favorite series. However, I was disappointed with this one. It didn't really go anywhere from the last one. Maybe it's also because I want to see Reed and Josh back together so much.
The character Ivy makes me want to rip the book up. Not that I'm that strong. But killing Cheyenne, acting like a total brat to Reed even though she doesn't even really know her, and dating Josh just went a little overboard for me. She took all the pleasure out of this story; it was pain...more

Ambition is the seventh book in the Private series. Reed finds herself up against the head-master and the Easton alumnae after a fire destroys one of the buildings on campus. A fire that occurred while Reed and other students were sneaking off campus to attend the Legacy, an annual, exclusive event.

One of Easton’s oldest buildings has burnt down and it’s all on the shoulders of the Billings’ girls. Now, to make sure they get to keep their house, they have to host a benefit and raised $5 Million for the school, in just a couple of weeks.
All the while, Noelle is stepping on Reed’s toes as president, strange things keep happening to Reed after Cheyenne’s death and Reed’s nemeis, Ivy, is now dating Reed’s ex, Josh. Oh, and Reed is still keeping a little secret at to why she and Jo...more

The series keeps getting more compelling. I don't know how Brian keeps finding new ways of upping the ante on these books and making them more suspenseful without it feeling contrived, but she has been very successful so far.

Feeling overwhelmed with all the drama from last semester, Reed unexpectadly calms herself down. Things are going fine at Easton, except for the constant stares and glares, but now Reed has to deal with another problem- Headmaster Cromwell is shutting down Billings! To keep Billings in it's home, Reed debates with Headmaster Cromwell, that she and others, will raise 2,000 to keep Billings in Easton. If Reed fails the funraiser, everything will be crushed. Her social life, academic life, and BI...more
This book is in the fiction/suspense genre. It's about a girl named Reed who needs to raise 5 million dollars through a fundraiser. The reason she and her friends need to raise this money is because they got caught sneaking back from a party they were forbidden to go to. In order to find out if they raised enough money you'll have to read the book yourself:).

Sometimes when people see this series they think it's like Gossip Girl and decide not to read it. Big mistake. These books are much better and can only compare with most of the characters being elite. I started reading this series to feed my obsession with boarding schools and have been reading ever since. In this installment, Reed is fighting to save Billings House and also dealing with things from her past (mostly, Cheyenne). This book kept me in suspense throughout and I had to keep reading. ...more

I love this series very much. This is one of the final installments that have been released so far. In this chapter of the series Reed has to take responsibility. After The deaths and mishaps in Billings she has to put it behind her and be president. She is now president of Billings but Noelle returns. Noelle doesnt take her place but it does push Reed over the Edge. The girls in Billings have to make up for the bad deeds they have done. They have a party to raise money for the school. Can...more

The 7th book of the series was a bit sadder than the others because of her break-up with Josh. It was, as always, still full of drama and mystery. We got to know Noelle more and see Reed go through some big changes and heartaches. I have a feeling Sabine has something to hide. There is just something about her that makes me wonder what she's hiding.

The Billings girls were already on their last chance, before they got caught sneaking out to the Legacy. Now it's up to Reed, as president, to get them out of this mess, and this book follows her struggle. Despite this pressure, she's still getting strange threats connected to Cheyenne, and along with the aftermath of her Josh break-up...slowly, slowly the pressure is starting to get to Reed. You'd think it couldn't get any worse, but it does. Oh, it does. And I was not expecting any of it....more

My Random Thoughts on "Ambition":
*I miss Josh

i mean i can even see hating them,

Reed Brennen was having fun being president of the Billing House. But when something bad happens the Billing House might close down and Reed is in charge of the problem. What will she do?

Simply addicting, although I have plenty of criticism.
Is Reed ever going to get a break from all of this drama? It's a little ridiculous. I realize Kate Brian was making the novel exciting, blah blah blah, but I'm tired of twists and turns. I'm not even surprised anymore.
Also, I am not liking the new Billing's girls. The bitchy, richy whores of the old Billing's house is what made it so great. Replacing them with bland wannabes is doing the Billing's girls a disservice.

The mystery of Cheyenne Martin's death continues in Ambition. After reading Legacy, I was desperately waiting to get my hands on this book and I have to say for the most part it lived it to my expectations. Funny things keep popping up around Reed concerning Cheyenne's apparent suicide, but all is not what it seems. I have to admit, the ending left me wanting more. Lucky I bought book 8 too huh?
man oh man oh man, i was almost in tears i felt so bad for read! her life is just so awful, i mean yeah, some of the stuff is her fault, but i just hate the way josh is with ivy, it just kills me! him and reed NEED to be together! man this book got me so worked up, i can't wait to read the next one! i hope things for read will get better, but somehow i doubt they will. jeez.

-I decided to read this book because I had previously read some of the other books in the series and I enjoyed them loads.
-The category on the bingo board that this book completes.....
-What I liked about this book was the way that the author ended the book. It was really dramatic like the rest of the books in the series that I have read. The author is really good with detailed descriptions that make your heart race.

E' la classica storia del "più in alto sali, più in basso rischi di cadere".
Lo struggimento come al solito è all'ordine del giorno, anche se Reed sembra essere più innamorata di Noelle che non di Josh.

Okay, I'll admit, this one got a little slow for me in the middle. I mean, between all the incessant iPhone references, constant shoulder coiling, and the fact that it's the seventh book, we all get how effing great and old money everything at Easton is, the repetition has been starting to wear me down a bit. Similarly, I feel like this story arc hasn't had quite the pacing that the first four books' did, where things are constantly happening and you aren't constantly getting caught up in Reed's...more
This book had me at ends! Omg it was incredibly good. The main character finally get what she wants only to be destroyed! Not exactly everyone's type of book but I really liked it. The whole private series has me hooked. I cannot wait until the next one comes out. Katie Brian has a way with her words to pull me into her books and feel like I am in the room witnessing all of the events happening. She also is very good at creating vivid images in the back of my mind. It's amazing how good ...more
