The book I read is called Scorpia by Anthony Horowitz. Horowitz has written other books such as Point Blank, Stormbreaker, Eagle Strike, and Skeleton Key. This is the fourth and final book of The Alex Rider adventures. This book is about a teenager boy that is a spy for MI6. He goes to Italy to find a company that he heard about from a former enemy named Yassen Gregorovich. Just before Yassen died he said Alex would find his destiny in Scorpia. He ends up working for them, but after hearing abou...more

This book was very interesting. It was basically about Alex Rider trying to find out about his father. He never knew his father because he had died when Alex was a kid. Scorpia is a secret agency that mainly assassinates people. My favorite part of this book was when Alex was sneaking into a room with a tiger laid out on the floor. There is a lot more to this part, but I don't want this to be a spoiler. I would recommend this to anyone who like adventure and mystery with a little bit of action s...more

Scorpia, the fourth installment in the Alex Rider series by author Anthony Horowitz sends a great message and has an excellent story behind it. We all know that Alex Rider is a teen super spy hired by the M16 in England and he takes risky missions to save the world. Now we see him on a mission of his own to find out what happened to his parents. Throughout the book we see that as he finds more clues to the whereabouts his parents he finds out he actually follows in their foots step be they were...more

This book was a great book!!!! It has everything you can want in a book. It has action. It has suspense. It has riddles and clues that are hard to figure out. Once again Alex Rider is the one to save all of England. In a breathtaking experience Anthony Horowitz brings Alex’s story to a different level of novels.
When Yassen Gregorovich, Scorpia’s assassin, tells Alex that Alex’s father was one of the best assassins for the secret organization Scorpia, Alex is swept into an exciting story searchi...more

The authors purpose in writing the book is to give readers an intense thriller to read about. The authors purpose is to also entertain the readers. The book has a good feeling on its audience. It also has a pleasing sensation on its audience. The book will have lasting value. The book is worthy.

Scorpia is the fifth book in the Alex Rider series by Anthony Horowitz. In this book Alex Rider is ostensibly on vacation in Italy but he’s really following a clue as to how his father died which was given by Yassen Gregorovich to find scorpia in venace. When he learns the truth, he joins the criminal organization known as Scorpia. He knows they’re trained assassins, but he’s unaware of their plan to murder millions of London schoolchildren with a weapon only known as invisable sword. He returns...more

The book “Scorpia” by Anthony Horowitz was a decent book that happens to be very hard to get into. I wasn’t very impressed by the way the author wrote and worded this book. In my opinion Anthony Horowitz did an outstanding job on the other Alex Rider books, but this one wasn’t exactly that great. The plot in this book took place in London where special agent Alex Rider (agent for MI6) has to save the world once again. In this book Alex Rider was on a mission to prevent the secret organization Sc...more

Alex Rider is on a mission. This time he is not working for MI6, instead this time there is a job that he has to do for himself. Just a short time ago Alex was present when his old nemesis, Yassen Gregorovich died. Before he died Yassen told Alex that he and Alex’s father used to be comrades and if Alex wanted to know more about his father and his father’s life he must go to Venice where he should find Scorpia. Scorpia would help “find your destiny. A...more

Okay. Well. This book. This book was pretty cool, all said. At the end of the last book, I was almost in shock. I mean, whooooah. ALEX RIDER HAS A BIGGER PLOT THAN JUST A TEENAGE SPY RATTING OUT BAD GUYS. EVERYBODY GO HIDE UNDER A TABLE OR PUT A PAPER BAG OVER YOUR HEAD OR START USING THAT SUB-ETHA THUMB THINGY; THE WORLD IS ENDING.

Sorry, your ears are probably bleeding right now. Or would it be more accurate to say your eyes?

But I loved it that this time there was plot. I mean, yeah, the othe...more

Scorpia, by Anthony Horowitz, is the fifth book of the Alex Rider series. Scorpia is one of the most vicious and powerful gangs in the world, and they focus on terrorism or sabotage. They also killed Alex's parents, and are the primary reason of destruction and chaos. In this book, Scorpia tries to get rid of Alex once and for all because Alex is a very valuable spy for MI6.
I really like this book because not only is Alex going on a mission that risks his life but he is also going on a mission...more

I absolutely love the book Scorpia by Anthony Horowitz. This book is a great read for those who love action and suspense. Scorpia is about a boy named Alex Rider who is sent on a mission to gain intel on a corporation known as SCORPIA (Sabotage Corruption Intelligence Assassination). Alex first finds a top secret area where he meets a woman named Julia Rothman who is in fact the leader of SCORPIA. She then asks Rider if he would like to be trained so that he may become a member of SCORPIA. Alex...more

What I’ve always liked about the Alex Rider books is the creativity and, using a teenage spy, ability to appeal to the target audience, mainly adolescent boys. These books have always been “can’t put it downs” for me, but the part I always enjoy is the gadgets. I’ve always loved it that they take normal things and make them explosive, or turn it into an emergency contacting device, and I applaud Anthony Horowitz for the massive amount of creativity needed for coming up with all of those aspects...more

Over the summer, I read Scorpia, by Anthony Horowitz. This is the fifth book in the Alex Rider series. Alex rider is an teenage spy who works for the English government. In this book, he is trying to find out the truth about his father’s death, and who his father was affiliated with. He is quickly tied up in an international spy group named Scorpia. He cannot figure out if Scorpia is a good group or if they are terrorists trying to recruit him to assassinate people. He is lead to believe the in...more

SSR Project Book Review

For my “really good book”, I read Scorpia by Anthony Horowitz. This is the fifth book in the Alex Rider series which was alright to this point. Scorpia was the best book in the series by far that I have read. This book is very suspenseful and has more action than the other books. Also, the author uses many interesting settings in this book. It starts out in Venice, Italy. The next setting is in Naples, and Alex finally goes back to his hometown of London, England. There w...more

After reading several reviews I notice that at the beginning of the novel “Scorpia” by Anthony Horowitz, the reader does get glued to the book. I found myself continuously telling myself “five more minutes till I go to sleep.” But as the book progressed I was slowly convincing myself that the book was not up to my level and something that I could have been reading in grade 6.

Horowitz starts the book off really well. He immediately introduces the conflict in the novel. The antagonists are all i...more

Horowitz has written another captivating Alex Rider book. Anthony Horowitz has created a action packed story whose main character is a spy. The book follows many different settings in England and in Italy.
Alex Rider is a 14 year old orphan boy who lives with his uncle's maid, Jack Starbright. His parents died in a "plane crash" and his uncle was murdered by an assassin named Yassen Gregovich. That's when Alex met Alan Blunt and Mrs. Jones. They work at a secret agency called MI6. Ever since th...more

Alex Rider goes to Venice, after Yassen dies in Eagle Strike. He finds Scorpia to see how his father really died. His father used to be in Scorpia and Scorpia is an organization for ruling the world. They are M16's number one enemy and Scorpia did a lot of projects to destroy and kill people. The Scorpia has a new project, which is called the Invisible Sword and it kills thousands of 12-14 year old children. The whole book is mostly about Alex Rider being able to stop Scorpia from killing thous...more

I read this as a Genre Challenge for the UKBC. Although it is aimed at younger readers, it holds up as a well crafted story in any age group. I thoroughly enjoyed reading it.

A fairly simple & comprehensible plot line, but with many other threads running through it. Alex isn't an imitation of Bond, though there is clearly a nod in that direction (and even has the odd 'aside' aimed at a certain wizard!); Alex has both the difficulties, but also the extra 'skills' (such as fitting through tight...more

Scorpia was a great, entertaining, and action pact book. On a scale from one to ten this book would be a ten. Scorpia is a book in my favorite book series, the Alex Rider series. My favorite caracter is always Alex because he is so brave and knows how to fight. The genre of this book is action and adventure. Anthony Horowitz is one of my altime favorite authors. I like how the author writes it as everyone is innocent but then there ends up to be a bad guy. The Alex rider series is so cool becaus...more

This book is brought down by a cheap trick at the end, although it did improve over the last book with the exploration of Alex Rider's parents and story of origin. The cheap trick was done entirely to ensure the sequel. It was the kind of trick that Hollywood movies use a lot. They don't finish a satisfying story or chapter, they just add in a last scene to set you up for the sequel.

I can see how the marketers like it, but they shouldn't be in charge of the editorial process. Any reader (or mov...more

This book is by far my favorite Alex Rider book and it is simply one of the best books out there. Alex is going to Venice on a class field trip and begins to separate from his class. His agency MI6 told him that Scorpia is working there and he needs to stop them. He goes to a party where Scorpia was working and he begins to look around. He enters this office where there is a Puma that looks real and it feals real but he thought it was stuffed. All of a sudden it starts moving and tries to attack...more

"Go to Venice. Find Scorpia. And you will find your destiny," Alex was told by a dying man at the end of the previous book, ”Eagle Strike”. SCORPIA is an acronym for "sabotage, corruption, intelligence, assassination." And so we find him; in Venice, with his friend Tom, looking for clues to his father's identity and death. Was he an agent of M16, the secret world organization that has used Alex before? Or was he a tool of Scorpia, the powerful international criminal agency that specializes in sa...more
