Poet Under a Soldier’s Hat (Quillrunner Publishing, 2013) does not have the kind of title that makes me instinctively reach for my wallet. Shame about the title, because this biography is well worth reading. Imagine soldiering in Helmand and Waziristan, with postings in the Himalayas, Egypt, Aden, and other parts of that terribly torn part of the map, starting ninety (90) years ago!
