Forbidden love in war torn Afghanistan is the backdrop for this suspenseful story that shows us the Afgan barbaric traditions against women and children.

Two years ago Azita Seraj, an Afgan doctor, saved Delta Force operator Kaden Christiansen’s life after they were betrayed on a mission. Neither has forgotten the other but their lives were on two different continents. Now two years later, her dead husband brother gives her 11 year old niece to a warlord. Azita is appalled at this old tradition

Great read if...you enjoyed the other books in the series, suspense novels, romance, drama, danger, foreign countries, different cultures, plot twists, fighting for what you want, fighting for what you believe in, new beginnings, tying up your past, falling in love, and an HEA!

Side Note: Here's the thing about Kristine, she never ceases to amaze me. This book was no exception. When it comes to her books, I always feel what the character is feeling as the reader, which is so cool. All of the book

I really didn't know what to expect with this book. After reading the synopsis, all I knew was that I wanted to read this book and badly. I was not disappointed. I loved every minute of it. The characters were very well written. I found myself completely emerged in there world.

The plot was thick with suspense and action. I love when action meets romance and in this story that is exactly what I got. A great read that I could not put down. So much angst and suspense.

The only thing I can say about this book is WOW!! Kristen Cayne knows how to pull the reader in from the first page until the end. This is her third book in the Deadly Vice Series in so far my favorite. Each book in the series just gets better and better. A must read series!! A great read!

A book that could have been great and it is not. Kristine Cayne does manage to create an atmosphere of danger and despair -although not consistently- and she also draws up a rather complex character (for this kind of book) in Khalid, who's layered and fleshy and far more interesting than the flatter than a pancake hero (or, indeed, and surprisingly, the heroine). The dialogues between the men were far more interesting and skillfully handled than the awfully corny exchanged between hero and ...more

A must read! If you like hot movie stars, hot guys in uniforms, strong, silent hot guys, hot guys who respect a woman, or just hot guys period, this book is a must!
Kaden is your ultimate fantasy guy! He will be there to protect you, respect you, and give you
the sex you fantisize about! His mission at the moment is to protect his friend Nic, the good looking movie star. Nic helped him after his discharge from the Rangers, gave him a reason to go on. He is the best. But when Azitas brothe

Wow! Kristine Cayne's writing grabs me from page one and keeps me until the end. This book is suspenseful, emotional, action packed and so loving all in one. I loved the characters, Kaden is a kick ass, sexy as hell, fierce, protective bad ass that would do anything for his country and Dr Azita who he can't seem to forget. Azita is a respected Dr who saved Kaden's life when he was shot, she's amazing, kind hearted and kick ass in her own right. Laila is so sweet and amazing, I loved how she ...more

Kristine Cayne just keeps getting better. I love a book where I learn something. The term for journalists covering the stories of the brave men and women serving in the Middle East is embedded. I was immediately embedded in Deadly Betrayal, immersed along with the characters in a riveting Afghanistan story. As a reader, I wasn't allowed to come up for air or to question Cayne's authority for the whole length of the novel. With completely believable explanations of Afghan culture that never ...more

I've loved Kristine's other romantic suspense stories, and this one is no exception. There's a terrific suspense plot at the heart of this story, along with a tender and smoldering romance. Kaden Christiansen was introduced in her first book, Deadly Obsession, as the bodyguard to movie star Nic Lamoureux. In Deadly Betrayal, we learn about Kaden's past as a soldier in Afghanistan. We also meet the woman who saved his life, Dr. Azita Seraj. Azita is a fascinating character, and she and Kaden have ...more

Just a truly spellbinding book! As a woman in America, I find these customs against women - just incomprehensible! The intensity of the hunt for the 11 year old Laila - to prevent her wedding to a ruthless war lord - had me sitting on the edge of my chair. Outstanding development of the storyline - So many great twists and turns! And OMG, the anticipation of when Azita and Kaden would finally push past the boundaries and let loose all those pent up feelings - so much Sizzle, had me fanning ...more

This book had be hooked right from the start! The prologue will have you at the edge of your seat wondering what is about to happen. The entire story is filled with action, intrigue and love. Azita is a strong heroine who is willing to sacrifice herself for her niece. She she is sealing her fate by traveling with a man who is not her husband or guardian and shaming her family by attempting to stop the wedding. Kaden is the perfect hero - ex-military, loyal, brave, gentle and so loving. Their ...more

I waited a long time for this book and was not disappointed. Fast paced, thrilling, romantic adventure all the way! Was up til 3 am to find out how Kaden and Azita would survive and what happened to sweet Leila. Kristine Cayne brought the culture, both good and bad, alive in this book. I was right there with the characters every step of the way feeling their pain, loss, and love.

Recommends it for: yes
Kristine's books are vivid and drew me in from the start. The atmosphere is so rich with details you can smell the food on the air and hear fear on the hearts.
Love doesn't ask if you're culturally compatible and at times you must decide which is more important.
