Dear Diary,

It will take more than threats—and one overbearing rancher— to drive me away from my rightful property.—When I inherited this isolated land near the Mexican border, I knew running it would be difficult and dangerous—very different from my privileged life in Louisiana, where I was the genteel Miss Trilby Lang. But

Well, surprisingly this book isn't as bad as I was expected.

Sure it started out real slow and I did 'skip pages' few times because it was boring, but eventually the story went smooth and familiar as usual.

I don't really like Trilby. She's nothing but weak because she didn't stand up for herself. She didn't even tried to justify her honor in front of Thornton and that's annoying. I don't like it.

Yes, too much character in this book. It was like three stories stuffed in one book which could be s

Trilby is forced to leave with her family from Louisiana to Arizona. She is leaving behind all the comforts, family and the man she loves to a dirty dusty, rough country. All the men, white or not, seem like savages to her. And Thorn Vance is the worst of them all. Thorn's ranch is running out of water, ahd if he could hookup with Trilby, he could get water from her family's ranch. But with the way they feel towards each other, that could be an impossibility. Thorn is not very trusting when it c ...more

What to give this book....I'm going with a 3ish. It's not quite a 3, it's not a 2 and it's not a 2.5 even because that's not quite enough. Probably I'm splitting hairs, but there it is.

I think the problem with trying to rate this book is that I've no idea what sort of book this is. Part romance, part drama, part historical fiction with the Mexican Revolution, it's kind of a mish mash that leaves you with a wtf feeling at the end. I might even add its part social/racial commentary with the love

Ok, for the 1st time baca karya DP yg tdk bersettingkan "Jacobsville" pdhl wkt pertama kali lht novel ini terbit (tanpa baca sinopsis dr goodreads) gw mikir ini akan melanjutkan another story with "Jacobsville" background.

Sorry, walo DP mjd slh 1 author favorite gw tp utk novel yg ini gw mesti ngasih 1 bintang krn ceritanya itu bener2 diluar dari alur DP yg biasanya. Terlalu banyak tokoh yg ada shg gw ga nangkep chemistry dari tokoh2 yg notabene slg tertarik.

Ada Trilby (Heroine sekaligus judul d

I love historical westerns, and this book was set in an interesting period, the early 1900's instead of the usual range of 1850-1880. We have motorcars, and instead of Indian Wars the backdrop is the Mexican Revolution.

I would have enjoyed the book even more if it hadn't been for two things:

Too much historical info. We have endless discussions of the political situation, or the Native American culture. It is all accurate, but it interrupts the story. I get the impression that Diana Palmer did lo

Lots of smoldering passion; wrongful impressions; virginal fears; and lust. A very good read. Once our hero realizes why he had been so cruel to her and that he loves her; it was interesting to read along as he tries to win her over. But as he was kind of jerk, you hope she punishes him a little so that he doesn't think he is too studly.

After hiding it for so long, I fully admit to my addiction to romance novels however this one made me want to go on the wagon it was so awful. Thorn thinks Tribly is a slut and tries to get her to give him sumpn' sumpn' but she tells her parents, who let Thorn know she isn't like that. All better now! And that was the first 40 pgs or so. Turn the page and enter a whole new cast of characters. I flipped back and forth between the pages, thinking the publisher must've slipped in pages from another ...more

This one is set in 1910 in Arizona. Trilby was a cajun debutabte in Baton Rouge when he family moves to the Arizona-Mexico border to run her now deceased uncles ranch. Next door neighbor Thornton Vance is well off but he has a major problem, his water holes for his cattle are drying up and he has no clear path to the river which is one Trilby's parents spread. What to do??? Read the book and find out!!
Another of the subplots in this book is Naki, A full blooded Apache and Sissy, Trilby's best fr

This is an odd story. It's historical in nature and covers the Mexican revolution. It's odd to see cars in the storyline. There's horses too don't get me wrong but it's strange to read early cowboys driving early automobilles. There plenty of action and misconceptions. The basic storyline is about a family who has moved from the south to the west and there's a young lady who's sort of being courted by two men (one from the south and one from the west) and neither of them seems quite right for he ...more

A always love Diana Palmer romances! This is about Trilby who's father moved the family from a easy live in Louisiana to the Arizona territory near the Mexican Border. Trilby dreams of going back to Louisiana and marrying her friend she has not seen for 5 years. She meets her rough neighbor and as romance novels go, things changed. This also had a couple of other stories romance mixed in with it. Lots of misunderstandings and happy endings.

I have been reading this author for a while, and I am starting to notice the same plot lines in all of her books. The stories although well written are basically the same. The two main characters not trusting each other or assuming something about the other and misunderstandings taking place. It to me is getting old

Bintang 5 karena ceritanya ga monoton "cinta mabuk kepayang"! Luar biasa buatku bisa sekaligus nyeritain sebegitu banyak tokoh, & setiap tokoh punya peran ga cuma sekali. Selain itu aku jadi belajar sedikit sejarah. Yah betul-betul punya "bobot" menurutku. I enjoy it!

The history behind the story was interesting, but really the she loves me, loves me not thing drug on for way too long!! And the writing is a different style then I'm used to... Only three stars for this one.

It's been quite a while since I read this book. I still like it very much. Diana has written it so well. The plot is very interesting about the Apache Indians. A good book to keep and read again.

Ceritanya datar kurang greget, walaupun karakter hero/heroine kuat tp tetep kurang greget. Mungkin krn latar belakang cerita perang & sejarah yg terlalu kuat jd aga2 mengaburkan cerita roman-nya
Stacey
this book was super cute!! loved trilby and thorn, and even sissy and her apache! glad they both had a happy ending!
