Badass Inc. The good news is that, once you get
to the point where you can nail the workout program in the book, you will be in ridiculous shape. The bad news is that it doesn't provide a very effective path to that level of development. If you're mentally tough, and willing to crush yourself in the gym and fudge the hell out of the workouts, then after 2 or 3 cycles through the program, you will be formidable. Or broken.

Stew's great, and love the book. Also recommend his website for you Fitness Freaks out there. As for BUD/S prep, ask me offline.
Because I want to be a badass. (See: Krav Maga and other attempts at not being a wuss, by David J. Holsinger) Unfortunately, this book is not very badass.
