I received a copy of this in exchange for an honest review.

I consider it a happystance that I got a review copy of this cookbook, because I just came across Juli's website PaleOMG.com and made one of her muffin recipes this past weekend! I'm always looking for new Paleo/low-carb recipes that I can adapt to my low-sugar lifestyle.

Juli is completely herself, on her blog and in this cookbook. If you don't like her one place you won't like her the other, but I found her approach refreshing in a worl

I LOVE THIS BOOK!! So many fresh and new ideas. I tried Paleo in the Spring and I couldn't stick with it because I had trouble figuring out what to cook for dinner for my family. I love that there are pictures of every recipe and I love that there are little notes after the recipe; explaining specific ingredients or preparation tips. I recently had weight loss surgery and will be eating low carb for the rest of my life. This book made me realize that there are many ways to still have the things ...more

My husband and I go on and off Paleo - we both feel so much better mentally and physically when we stick to a Paleo diet but it is hard to remain committed. Why? The American diet is very grain based. Eating a diet with no grains, no dairy, no processed foods, no beans / legumes / soy and no sugar can get difficult. Once you learn the restrictions of the diet and staying within those parameters, the challenge is coming up with enough of a variety of meals to keep you satisfied and motivated to c ...more

I loved this book. Unequivocally.

Let's start from the beginning. Omg, That's Paleo? is written my Julie Bauer, who has a claim to fame on the internet at a blog by the same name, where she writes about here amazing journey with Paleo food and her life. I have been dying to get my hands on a copy of this book, and it was a sheer windfall when I signed up for a new early reviewer program and it was sitting there all shiny and wanting to be read.

This book is just as great as Julie's blog, and I f

So why did I even download this? Because I do try to minimize my wheat and sugar intake, and paleo/atkins type recipes often help me switch things up a bit. When I saw this was a Read Now book and that the author was a popular blogger, I thought there might be some stuff in it that would suit my purposes.

This is the second paleo recipe book I've come across in the last week or so. Paleo is eating a diet that is similar to that of our hunter-gatherer ancestors, eating food that is as close to its nature state as possible.

The author begins by telling us what paleo and why she eats this way. It is written in a very conversational manner.

There are 100 recipes with great pictures. I am a fairly fussy eater and the recipes sound and look delicious! Here's an example for Brazilian Curry Chicken ...

The author of OMG! That's Paleo, Juli Bauer is also a Blogger with a very active Paleo blog. She begins this book explaining the Paleo lifestyle in a very simple, humorous style. I have been considering going "Paleo" for about a year and this book most definitely answered some of the questions I had on going Paleo. After explaining about the diet and what foods are acceptable she goes on to explain how to prepare these foods and what staple ingredients she recommends to keep in your kitchen. Per ...more

“OMG That’s Paleo?” Makes Eating a Paleo Diet Tasty and Humorous!
Two pages into “OMG That’s Paleo?” I was reading bits out loud to whichever person was standing nearest to me. Now, it’s not often you can combine a “laugh out loud” experience and a cookbook but Juli Bauer has managed both. I’ve been a long-time fan of her PaleOMG.com site but have spent most of my time reading her recipes, not her narrative. Turns out, she’s got a terrific sense of humor to go with her cooking sense! The recipes

What a refreshing take on a diet I always saw as kind of bland. It’s nice to have healthier options available to you. My experience with the Paleo diet was very limited and this book will help even beginners. The best part of the recipes in this book is that no one will ever know the difference.

Last night for dinner we tried the Cilantro Chicken Nuggets. My picky nieces and nephews were over and I need something that would get the kids to eat. This should be a testament to this book because my

If there’s anything I know, it’s a Paleo cookbook. I like reading cookbooks like any book at first, cover to cover. I tag the pages and dream about what I want to make, then I go back with another post-it flag and tag what I can realistically make based on grocery prices. Juli’s first foray into the paleo cookbook world is charming. Her energy is high and the laughs are abundant.

If you’re a regular follower of her website, most of these recipes may not seem that new, which is a bummer. Having s

Wow! Let me just start off by saying that this book was an eye opener. I thought I knew what Paleo was, but obviously I did not. Prior to this book, I had convinced myself that a Paleo lifestyle was restrictive, boring, and limited. I thought I would be eating the plainest of plain when it came to food. Now, I know better.

This book was so yummy-licious (yes, I know it's not a word) and inspiring. I am convinced that I can do Paleo.

The humor and playful flair of Bauer comes through immediately.

*received for an honest review

I was so impressed with this cookbook that I signed up for Juli Bauer’s Facebook page, and blog. I thought these recipes sounded amazing. Even though I don’t agree with a lot of the advice she gives ( I just read another paleo diet cookbook and the importance of diary was emphasized). I personally think dairy is important and intend to keep it in my diet.
I liked that she gives a list of ingredients she keeps and a list of foo

This is one of the few cookbooks I have read on my kindle (standard ereader) that I could actually say I would use. Juli Bauer is a very entertaining writer, and I have every intention of following her blog now. The information regarding eating/cooking Paleo was presented very matter of factly and not in any way condescending, which I appreciated. Both the positives and the negatives are openly discussed. The recipes are easy to follow, and I liked that the ingredients were fairly commonplace. T ...more

I really liked this cookbook! It is beautifully laid out and easy to follow. I'm not a Paleo person; I'm a cookbook person. I love cookbooks, and I'm open to trying new, delicious looking recipes and ingredients.

I tried two of the recipes right off the bat with stuff I had on hand and they turned out beautifully (and deliciously): Broccoli Fritters and Cilantro Chicken Nuggets. I'm a sucker for anything with cilantro in it, and I often add it to stuff just because. The nuggets did not disappoin

As a new adventurer into the realm of eating Paleo style, I really appreciated this book. Juli takes a fun and lighthearted approach to Paleo-style cooking. Yes, she does admit to taking some liberties (and some of these can be observed in a couple of her recipes, such as the Chicken with Cilantro and Plantain Rice). These liberties make her book more user-friendly for someone like me who really likes being able to modify this style of eating to suit my needs and dietary preferences.

This is not your usual cookbook. Juli writes just like she does on her blog, PaleOMG, and she is very funny. When reading this cookbook, it feels like talking to a friend. I don't think I've ever laughed at a cookbook, or even really been entertained, until now.

But what really matters with a cookbook is the food, right? I admit, I have only cooked one recipe from this cookbook, and that is one that was also posted on her blog. But it was really good. I've also made a couple of other recipes fro

As someone fairly new to Paleo eating I had not heard of Juli Bauer and her blog, but will be certain to bookmark it now. I'm reviewing a Kindle copy of this, and have no problem with photo quality as mentioned by other reviewers. It's a collection of the most yummy-looking recipes, nothing fancy or difficult, no dour rules or restrictions, just good hearty and healthy food to fit a Paleo lifestyle. In addition to the delicious main courses there are quite a few sweet treats, including muffins, ...more

I've been eating Paleo for a few months and because it's easy to get stuck in a rut with food choices, I always like to take a look at cook books to get some fresh ideas. This one is a good example of fairly simple, tasty options. Some of the recipes are a bit long on ingredients, but it's often more spices than main ingredients (and there is also a five ingredient meals chapter). And there are a few non-typical ingredients that pop up, but for the most part the food covers the essentials of a P ...more

I'm a huge fan of Juli Bauer so was delighted to find that she had collected some of her best recipes in a book. I love Joy's fresh take on paleo foods with a good balance between nutrition, flavour and ease of cooking. I loved how the book was laid out in easy to refer to sections. Juli's humour and sense of fun is definitely present in this book and made it more than just a cookery book. I love food, it's that simple. I love to cook it and I love to eat it. Because of my love for food I'm generally pretty curious about different "diets". I enjoyed the writer's commentary scattered throughout the book. She is humorous and keeps things light, while still being informative and not at all preachy about living a Paleo lifestyle. I loved that she was honest about her Paleo experiences and that she cheats a little here and there. Do I think I would change to the Paleo diet for myself? ...more

I wanted to like this book. Because I really like the blog. But I'm disappointed that of 100 recipes, 70 are from the blog. So lame. The pictures are not very appetizing either. I'm not sure if its bc of the lack of glossiness of photos or if its bc the photos look stretched across the page. I can appreciate that Juli put her heart an soul into the book but the flimsy cover (prefer hard bound or flimsy glossy) and lack of appetizing recipes just made this book a gigantic disappointment for me. There are SO many creative, interesting recipes in PaleOMG. I can't wait to start making some of these...Coconut Ginger Mushroom Chicken, Thai Lime Coconut Shrimp, Caramelized Plantain Pancakes just to name a few. This book has shown me that clean eating doesn't have to be boring. The author is very down to earth and informative, yet breaks things down in a way that's easy to understand.

I think this maybe my favorite paleo cookbook yet. she is real and realistic. the recipes are fairly easy and while "true" paleo people wouldn't call her stuff paleo she works on the idea of what works for her without getting super preachy. this will be a netgalley book I'll keep around for quite some time, or until I buy the published version.

OMG That's Paleo is like a conversation with a friend over mimosas. And bacon. Juli Bauer doesn't pretend to be an expert on anything but what she likes. Her recipes are easy to follow. Her love affair with sunbutter was boundless, but the recipes work just as well if you cheat with almond butter ;)

Paleo cookbooks are a new thing for me and I am starting to amass a collection. This is a nice addition. I loved the easy to make recipes and they all seem very kid friendly as well which i really appreciate.

The slow cooker section was especially nice and not as common in the other Paleo cookbooks that I have seen. I also really like the 5 ingredient recipes and the snacks section.

The recipes sound amazing.
The Kindle formatting was off. There were a couple of recipes that had commentary from a different recipe.
The pictures are not appealing.
I was *this* close to returning it.
BUT, the recipes themselves swayed me.

A few errors in the recipes like ingredients listed but then doesn't instruct when to add. I dislike that ingredients are not listed in order of use. Makes me constantly having to read recipe over and over again. Otherwise great food. She has a funny blog too.
