From the first chapter where the ex beauty queen deputy sheriff Bree Tridle takes Jamie Cassidy in for questioning (not knowing of course he is working undercover on the border) you’re in for not only a humorous ride but plenty thrills from smugglers and stalkers.

Jamie Cassidy is not your typical hero. He’s an ex-soldier who did plenty of heroic things while serving his country but lost both his legs when was captured and tortured. It took him a while to get back on his feet both literally and

My Spy by Dana Marton

Jamie Cassidy is an undercover operative working for Homeland Security. He's in Pebble Creek, Texas trying to track down a lead from a terrorist threat.
Brianna Tridle is the Deputy Sheriff of Pebble Creek. She's known for her charm and using her smile to corral any wayward would-be criminals in her town.
While in town, Jamie runs into Brianna at the local independent bookstore. "The pure, molten-lava lust that shot through his gut nearly knocked him off his feet. He tried to

I enjoyed this book by Dana. This book includes passion, laughs, heartache, a stalker, murder, handicapped characters and a bomb.

If you have not read the below I would recommend reading those books first from “HQ: Texas” series.

Good book. Jamie is working undercover trying to find the smugglers who are planning to bring terrorists into the country. Unfortunately, he inadvertently ends up trying to use a counterfeit bill which brings him to the attention of deputy sheriff Bree. She is determined to stop the counterfeiters and Jamie's story isn't adding up. When they are ordered to work together Jamie also discovers that Bree is being threatened by a stalker. This mystery has the sweetest love story between a former beauty queen, now a deputy sheriff in Pebble Creek, Tx and a double war amputee turned border patrol agent. Brianna Tridle has baggage in the form of a younger autistic sister and Jamie has emotional scars from his military service beyond the obvious prosthetics. Dana Marton has created a realistic look at the problems our Border Patrol faces on a day to day basis. It's refreshing to read a love story about a disabled vet. This book is the ...more

Another great, fast-paced read from Dana Marton. I'd been looking forward to Jamie Cassidy's book for so long that I might have built my expectations up a little high. But he was the hero I imagined, and I was surprised at how much I liked the heroine, too. I think I would have enjoyed a slightly longer book, though, simply because there was so much going on and the main characters were so complex and interesting.

I did guess the villain, but that's a hazard of reading and writing so many romanti

This story has it all....action...suspense and a great romance. I loved the story and the characters. This author did a great job of describing the characters so the reader could connect with them. Jamie Cassidy was dark and brooding but with a sad background and he fought those demons every day. He has long given up on love. Then he is sent to a small town in Texas to deal with trouble around the border. While he is there he runs in to the deputy sheriff who happens to be a woman no less. Bree ...more
4.5 Stars for My Spy by Dana Marton.

Jamie, a war wounded, disabled veteran has nothing but his service to his country left in him. His nightmares, guilt, and survival eat at him daily. He believes he has nothing left to give anyone let alone a woman.

Bree, deputy sheriff of a small border town, and a former Miss Texas beauty queen handles the regular riff raff in her town with a smile and a soft touch. When Jamie and his governmental consultant team breeze into her town investigating smugglers an

This is another amazing book by Dana Marton. My spy is part of a series. I haven't read all the other books in the series but this can definitely be read as a stand alone.

Jamie goes to a small town in Texas on a secret mission. While there, he accidentally pays for something with a counterfeit $20 bill. Only problem is, the deputy sheriff, Bree, happens to be there. She brings him down to the station to talk about

Jamie Cassidy is working on a covert government operation when he bumps into what has got to be every man's dream woman, with a sexy southern accent to boot. Too bad that after his last failed mission, which left him with devastating injuries, he had written himself off for any kind of social interaction. As luck would have it, he stumbled into a local counterfeit money scheme and the lady turns out to be the town's deputy sheriff. Turns out that this particular beauty has br

I too received this from the author in exchange for an honest review.

I have just read another excellent fast-paced mystery romance by Dana Marton! Customs & Border Patrol undercover agent Jamie Cassidy first meets Deputy Sheriff Bree Tridle when he unknowingly passed a counterfeit twenty dollar bill in the small town of Pebble Creek.

Cassidy is working undercover on breaking an arms smuggling ring, and reluctantly join forces with her as he is in her jurisdiction. He has

Jose Naroksy once said, “In war, there are no unwounded soldiers.” That’s why Ms. Marton’s book, My Spy, hooked me in the first few pages. The usual, Alpha Warrior male character that is focused, impenetrable, indestructible, and commonly written about in such intrigue mysteries, is actually a wounded warrior with prosthetic legs. He has as many internal scars as exterior. I found that to be refreshing and frightening real given his profession.

The hero, Jamie Cassidy, a member of a six man te

Jamie is in town on a secret mission but his anonymity is almost immediately compromised when he inadvertently passes a counterfeit $20 bill to a business in town - right in front of the local deputy sheriff Bree Tridle. Bree "invites" him over to the sheriff's office to "discuss" the problem and is immediately put on alert by his evasive ways. Add to that her eventual need to pat him down (after finding weapons in a secret compartment in his car)and her discovery that he has prosthesis in place ...more

Dana Marton has done it again with another fantastic book. This book has it all romance, and suspense that will keep your attention from the first page. I loved Bree who is a strong willed Deputy Sheriff, and tough as nails Jamie who is working undercover to stop terrorists.I read this book in one sitting because I just couldn't put it down, I had to find out what happens next. Yet another great read by Dana Marton.

From the start I thought ‘What a tortured hero she’s written’, not knowing how close I was to the truth! Her hero’s always seem to have something big to overcome – which makes their journey that much more enjoyable. Jamie Cassidy has a pretty major issue to get past before he can let himself fall in love. He doesn’t want to be attracted to Bree and he fights it. But ultimately, love wins out and so do the good guys! Jamie’s issues within himself and Bree’s a

This was another can't put it down book. It started out as a Battle of the Sexes kind of book. Jamie tried to run roughshod over Bree who is a Deputy Sheriff. Bree on the other hand wanted to do all the work of protecting "her" town and push Jamie out. Finally they figured that if they shared everything ran easier. Bree was on someone's hit list. Was it a crazy stalker, a shady lawyer or the drug cartels? Jamie was trying to forget his past while trying to stop the drugs and terrorists while on ...more

I loved this book. I loved the tough Bree and the very hot Jamie. I loved the relationship between Bree and her sister Katie and I loved how gentle Jamie was with her. I loved how independent and strong Bree was and I loved that Jamie stayed in her face and eventually won her over. The story flowed really well it was fast paced and I didn't want to put it down. I highly recommend this book to anyone that loves romance and suspense. I would also recommend any of Dana Martins books.
Dana Marton hits a home run with My Spy. There is romance, intrigue, suspense, drama. Jamie Cassidy works undercover for Customs and Border Protection. When he passes a counterfeit 20 dollar bill he goes toe to toe with Deputy Sheriff Brianna Tridle. Both are not interested in a relationship. She is the sole guardian of her autistic sister, Katie. He is a tortured war hero. But the heart wants what the heart wants. You can not go wrong with this book. I highly recommend it.

In Marton’s romantic suspense novel, former soldier Jamie Cassidy is now undercover Border Patrol following an injury that claimed his legs. Deputy Sheriff Bree Tridle is determined to put an end to the counterfeit money surfacing in her Texas town. Suspecting their cases are connected, Bree and Jamie team together as danger escalates. Together they will face their enemies and their feelings for each other.

Strong addition to the HQ: Texas series.

Dana Marton brings us the story of Jamie, an undercover operative, and Bree, a dedicated deputy sheriff. They first meet when Bree tries to arrest Jamie and the sparks fly. This story combines great dialoge and realistic characters. As the mother of a special needs child, I loved the addition of Bree's sister. It has so many elements blended so well; passion, suspense, love, family, even a stalker. I loved it and would highly recommend it.
This was an awesome story.. I love how the characters are so real and have real issues like living with autism and veterans with disabilities & PTSD..Dana Marton brings to light these current issues and tells such a wonderful story of love & overcoming life's obstacles... I can't wait for the next book in this series....
I loved this book. The characters are realistic and the plot keeps you on your toes. I could picture Jamie's battle scars. Beer and Jamie make a great team. Can't wait for the next book in the series. Yet again Dana doesn't disappoint.
I liked the story. It was a good story, well written. But all the research issues--distances, and the mess about police v. sheriff--oh, and ALL subordinates in the Sheriff's Office are deputies, not just the #2... There are captains and lieutenants and sergeants even in rural county SOs. Plus the size of this so-called small town... It's a darn big small town if it has enough traffic to back up when the lights go out. The small town traffic jams I got caught in were more like two cars at a 2-way ...more
