In my case I read book 3 by accident and then was like wait WTH that can't end this way. The 1st, 6th, and 9th book all go hand in hand on the same subject matter or "Event".

Reading from the beginning also builds your character development which i enjoyed a lot.

I just finished Carpathian no more than 5 minutes ago and I think I like this one the most by far. The one problem I had with it is, it was not spell checked very well. I would say I came across at least 20 typo's or sentences that didn't turn out correct. Like for example " Anya was doing this and he then did that. Well Anya is a girl not a guy. Or Charlie was doing this then Ellenshaw came up behind him. Well Charlies is Charlie ellenshaw.(less)

I think David Golemon needs a copyeditor. Or a proofreader. Something. Anything.

I started the Event Group series with the expectation that it would be silly fun, and nothing more. The first few books were silly, but they were also mildly entertaining, so that's fine. Unfortunately, as time passed, the books became less about the unexplained and more about the incomprehensible ... writing. For example, in Ripper (taking the beaten-to-death and back again trope of Jack the Ripper), I literally cou

I look forward each year to the newest release in the Event Group Series. The adventures are always fun, the characters are enjoyable and the science fiction/historical aspect to Mr. Golemon's series are informative and entertaining.

Generally, I purchase the hard cover of this series as soon as they're out, but this time I read it on my Kindle. One of my ongoing criticisms of this series is that each one has seemed to suffer from lack of a good proofreader. The Kindle version did not differ from

Wow! Mr. Golemon has done it again.

An encounter on a yacht in Hong Kong Harbor 47 years ago seeking to stop the illegal sale of antiquities sets the stage for the latest Event Group investigation. The team travels to a remote part of Romania, once called Transylvania, on a quest to verify the existence of one of the Lost Tribes of Israel. What they find there shakes the very foundations of Biblical history and there are factions that will prevent that discovery from ever being brought to light n

How the hell am I going to last before the next book?? Even though this adventure is resolved, "Carpathian" ends with a massive cliffhanger, which, if you're anything like me, you are going to be absolutely desperate to read!

But to focus on this book, the Event Group are this time on the search of the treasures of the Biblical Exodus, and to see if some of the legends about the Carpathian Mountains are real. As before, I feel like I'm back with family as the group interacts in sometimes sad, som

If you like myths, legends, secret societies and covert government groups mixed in with some science then this book is for you. The Event Group is an ultra-secret government group approved by the president to investigate the truth of ancient historical mysteries and the impact it can have on our world.
This event has to do with an ancient tribe of Israel and a secret weapon they have that was used during the Exodus and the Fall of Jericho. The mystery leads them to the Carpathian mountains where

THIS book is very intriguing. I am an aficionado of werewolf stories so this one definitely fills my occasional need for the vampire or werewolf drama. The author is a gifted strategist in that the plot is well-developed and meted out in such a way so as to keep the reader on edge. Every werewolf story - in this case they are called GOLIA - has its origin myth and in this case it was superb. The creatures originate among the early Egyptians and assist the children of Israel in fleeing their Phar ...more

Excellent plot ruined by faulty research, lousy writing, and sloppy editing. The author has set the stage for the next installment, but it will be a tough slog, no doubt...

I'd previously read Leviathan and Ripper. I know, I'm reading these completely out of order. But it's still possible to enjoy the series that way. This one is exciting, with a fascinating premise involving one of the lost tribes of Israel and an interesting and unique take on the classic werewolf legends. There are a lot of characters in the secret U.S. government "Event Group" known as Department 5656, but it gets easier to keep them straight if you read more books in the series. Although these ...more

Add myths, legends, secret operatives, Gypsies, and a little bit of science, mix well, et voila, you have Carpathian! A top secret US government agency, known as the Event Group, goes on a search for a previously-unknown wolf species (known as the Golia) that is connected with one of the Lost Tribes of Israel and had direct impact on Biblical and historical events. Of course, they are not alone in their quest as international forces collide, although each group has a different motive. What secre ...more

Alice, a member of the top secret government agency known as the Event Group, has been fascinated with a relic since 1949 that was found in the wall at Jericho. It was the remains of an animal that she has been told cannot be.

Fast forward to present day, and Project Grimm is born as Alice continues to research the animal and the associated events of the Exodus. Things come to a head and she is forced to share her research with the team before she is quite ready. The evidence shows that it leads

Fabulous!!!! The Event group is spectacular again. Alice is on the trail of remains and answers that began at an event in Hong Kong more than 50 years ago before she and Garrison Lee were even married. The artifact looked similar to a wolf but like none ever witnessed or recorded in history. Then a mysterious woman and her grand-daughter send the ship it was displayed on to the bottom of the sea. However the event group has another vault in the complex with similar fossilized remains that have i ...more

The Event Group is a secret agency that dedicates itself to uncovering the truth behind legends and myths all throughout history in whatever corner of the world. Carpathian begins with the Moses and his chosen people crossing the Sea of Reeds while they are being chased by the Egyptian army led by Amun-her-khepeshef -- Ramesses II's firstborn son.

When the Egyptians tried to cross the Sea of Reeds, the tide comes in and the army finds itself drowning. Amun-her-khepeshef finds himself face-to-fac

Carpathians is the latest from David Lynn Goleman. In following his formula with the Event Group and the explorations of legends, this does not fall short. At times the book seemed hard to follow due to Goleman’s writing style or I was tired. It does take some effort to make sure you get all the details in this detail ridden book. That, by all means, is not a bad thing at all. The adventure is about two legends, the Exodus and the legend of the Werewolf that are now in the Carpathian Mountains. ...more

The Event Group will not be denied in its mission to protect the United States from artifacts and truths that would change recorded history and current day realities. It is there’s to pave the way in avoidance of the mistakes of our ancestors and forefathers and to protect the fragile balance of our existence. To do so with deniability taxes the capabilities of even the talented pool of scientists, archeologists, teachers, professors, and military personnel assembled as Department 5656 of the Na ...more

For those unfamiliar with the David Lynn Golemon book series, the Event Group is a team of people who are trying to uncover the real truth behind greatest myths and stories in human history.

His latest book "Carpathian" is set in the Middle East and begins with Moses exodus of the Israelites out of Egypt and across the Red Sea. They are pursued by the Egyptian prince Amun-her-khepeshef who was the firstborn son of Pharaoh Ramesses II and Queen Nefertari, and his army. When the Egyptians tried to

Religion, mythology, bad guys and thrills

I have enjoyed Goldman's previous books but this is the best. It's a page turner from the beginning. Loved the Gypsies' story, the location... Great book. Surprise ending.

Great book if you are good with a different version of the bible. I really enjoyed the book and am hooked to the event group stories!

Interesting read, the author has a great imagination, superb execution, and a knack for suspense! A good read.

My least favorite book in this series so far. Normally with these books you dont want to put them down, but this one did not have that same feel for me.

Golemon has been inventive and origin in all of his books, but this one will give your mind a twisting like no other. From the Biblical Exodus to the South China Sea to the Carpathian Mountains this book will take you on a twisting and turning race to the finish line. I liked the werewolf aspect of it. The Biblical links made it even more special. In all it ranks above all the other books on a stand alone basis, but as part of the series, it leads you in new directions. Now that I've read all th ...more

One of the best things that has occurred in my reading career was literally 'stumbling' across Golemon's "Event Group" series because I liked the cover on the original volume. Having read all but two, (Primeval & Overlord), I have to say 'Carpathian' was the best. No other writer so successfully employs the technique of weaving real history, convincing (if sometimes pseudo) science, action, and characters the reader cares about into a compelling read like David Golemon. I sometimes wish ther ...more

Another great "Event".

I like the way Golemon is able to balance various sub plots and keep it all almost equally interesting!
Jim Short
The story is good and matches previous tales in the serious well. My only issue is the basic tenet/motivation behind the villain (ABN) - there is no explanation of how his actions are supposed to produce the end result he seeks. That pulls his motivation into question. Any time the subject is brought up, it's only vaguely referenced and in a book that is supposedly exposing ancient secrets, generating more of them seems foolishly inept.

One word sums it up, WOW!

Mehh - nothing great

I have always enjoyed books by David Lynn Golemon and this was no exception. Lots of action start to finish. But it is another cliff hanger!! He had better hurry with the next book because I don't like to wait.
