The holy templars were the forebears of the masonic lodge. Using some fact with some embellishment this author builds on that to try and paint a picture of history. According to this book George Washington wasn't really a hero. The Revolutionary War was planned out for who would win. How does this author come to this conclusion? George Washington was a mason and the British had a lot of masons on their side, too.

Opened my mind to an area I had never been exposed to other than that of the typical "conspiracy theorist's" mania. I found it very helpful personally and I particularly jive with Baigent's seeming passion of subject, and yet, balanced approach in perspective and presentation. Just started another of his books.
This was a very well written book, but as all books about the origins of Freemasonry it only raises (no pun intended) more questions.
Another plausible origin for the Masonic Order. The perfect book to read after Born in Blood by Robinson.
The Temple and the Lodge by Michael; Leigh Baigent, Richard (1990)
One of my first masonic books....I still love it
Pretty good back ground on the KT

Same sort of theory as Holy Blood and Holy Grail. Offers an interesting take on Templar-Masonic links. Again, whether or not you believe it is another matter. But enjoyable to read and interesting to see the theories.
Detailed investigation of the linkage between Knights Templar and Freemasonry via Scotland. Circumstantial evidence, but the overwhelming level of arcane detail is convincing.
Fascinating read about masonry - got to read it while travelling around Scotland/England with a close friend checking out the spots from the book. Two words: awesome.
Facts, myths, and folks
Interesting book on the origins of the Masons. Pretty entertaining, but not entirely accurate.
Title in German:

Like HBHG, didn't live up to expectations, but was ok overall.
