Home from college, where men teased her for being overweight, Beth doesn't fit into pack life at the Mitchell ranch. Because she’s forgotten how to shift into a wolf, the pack alpha has ordered her to choose a mate or leave. The only male Beth desires is Dale, a fiercely protective Lup...more

I got this book because I wanted to read a plus-size romance. I knew it was short, so the lack of story didn't bother me. However, what did bother me was it was NOT a plus-size romance. The heroine, Beth, is described as big busted with "a slight pouch" to her tummy and "wide" hips. And after that ONE description, we are not treated to what she looks like beyond that. In fact, she sounded more voluptuous than overweight, something that is not as much of a stigmata that Bonnie Vanak tried to make...more
This book was just okay to me. I have read worse which is saying something, but what put me off was the grammar of all things. There were no problems but I felt that the author just threw in some big words to prove she's an author. I've never read anything of hers before so I don't know if that's something she does. The big words just didn't seem to fit and kind of took away the flow of the book.

Dale and Beth were semi likeable, but not endearing enough to get invested in a new series. I found...more

The Mating Game by Bonnie Canon is a short tease in the art of erotica. It was done tastefully. It starts when Beth a slightly overweight wolf returns to the Lupine world after spending four years away at college with the skins aka humans. She suppressed her wolfly manner and now can't shift into her wolf. Her uncle, Aiden, the pack leader has given her an ultimatum, mate or leave the pack. Dale her uncles head os security has always wanted her. He'll race the rest of the single pack members to...more
The story of an Alpha trying to safeguard his pack and the unfortunate predicament a young lupine female finds herself in when her wolf refuses to rise.

When a pack is predominantly male, a single female is near impossible to protect when her breeding cycle arrives and her inner wolf lies dormant; so the pack Alpha proclaims she must find a mate or leave…….so much for options.

Not all is dire though, as her long time infatuation declares his intention to win her for his own, when she chooses the M...more
Really liked the story. Wish it was longer and had an epilogue but would recommend anyway +++

Distressing over her inability to shift with her pack, Beth is forced to either be mated to a male, or leave permanently. Believing she hasn't got a choice, she takes part in the mating chase. The wolf that catches her makes her body burn. It’s Dale, whom she desires like no other.

I very much enjoyed this story. It definitely had more good points than bad and I found it perfect for that summer’s day, out in the garden.

First off, I knew it was a short, thus I was prepared. I would hardly begin...more
3.5-4 stars

This was a pretty good story. It's the first story I've read by Bonnie Vanak but I liked it and I'm sure I"ll try more of her work in the future.

Beth is a wolf shifter but has been away from her pack for 4 years for college. She had to submerge her wolf and natural instincts while she was in the normal world and once she got back home she found she had lost contact with her wolf. Beth is also a BBW and at college she was teased and ridiculed for it. In the wolf pack it's considered a...more

I am knew to this author. Beth is home after being away at college for 4 years, with one major problem. She has live as a skin (humans), and has forgotten how to shift into a wolf. This is a problem since Beth is Lupine. The problem is, she is unmated, and during heat season, that will not play well with the other unmated males within the pack. Her uncle and pack leader has given her three choices, leave, shift into a wolf within a week or participate in the mating chase. On top of Beth's presen...more

Another Great Quick Read

Another Great Quick Read

I really enjoy Bonnie Vanak's WoM series. There is actually quite a bit a background and description in such a short read. I just adored Dale, such a sweetie alpha male. I can not wait to delve deeper.
The mating chace

enjoyed reading these book about a pack of wolf's. one wolf goes off to school and loose herself only to come home and told she needs to mate. mate she dose and finds herself again
Awesome quick, short story. Wasn't expecting to enjoy this story so much, but I will definitely go looking for more in this series.
I love BBW-plus size romances. I love the reality in them.
I quite enjoyed this book. It was short and not a lot of ground was covered but it was a good story. There wasn't a lot of back ground on the characters and you don't get to really get to know them in depth. but there is enough information that you are familiar with what is gong on. It would have been wonderful if it was longer.

I was surprised that the confidence that was apparently obvious when Beth left the pack had been eroded while...more

This was a hot, short read and I really enjoyed it. Will definitely be checking out the rest in this series soon!

Ariana and Kyle both had difficult childhoods. Her parents were killed and she was kidnapped, he was branded then thrown out of his pack because of his hybrid blood. They love each other and now the sexual side of things has come calling. Finding some missing young, discovering a long time kidnapping and breeding ring brings them closer together. They mate, heal from their fight with 'the bad man', and decide to help their pack's acceptance of hybrid blood by having a baby. Great read!!

I really enjoyed this book because no one was perfect, or a superhero, but individuals who are looking for happiness. It's not over the top dramatic, but relatable. Sexy shifter males, wishing to find mine. :):)

First book in the Mating series finds Beth returning home from college after living for several years as a “Skin,” a human instead of the shifter she is. Beth doesn't fit into pack life at the Mitchell ranch. Because she's forgotten how to shift into a wolf, the pack alpha has ordered her to choose a mate or leave. The only male Beth desires is Dale, a fiercely protective Lupine who loathes the human lifestyle she embraces. She hungers for the handsome shifter's touch, but fears their difference...more

A small town shifter pack series.

The pack members and leaders look out for each other. I feel so warm and cozy every time I read a small town shifter series.

The first novelette The Mating Chase is about Dale & Beth. Their struggle to find love right in front of them. Dale is protective, alpha & monogamous. Beth is curvy and can’t believe anyone would want her but Dale wants her. Great Story!
I will start off by saying that this book is only around 50 pages, barely more than a short story. There is a bit more character development than these short 'novellas' usually allow for, but I have read fanfiction with considerably more length. What little character development they do allow for is intriguing, and I would love to learn more about how her parents decided to live as wolves, how she first met her future mate, and her time at college. There is even an entire world created that coul...more
I felt bad that Beth had to make a choice between staying or leaving for good. Beth felt like she didn't fit in anywhere. Dale was so sweet trying to show Beth that she really did fit in and that he cared for her. I wish that this book would have been longer, but I am looking forward to reading more in this series!
Wolf shifter romance with lots of other fairy tale creatures like Ogres and Trolls.
This wasn't very original with a plump (but super fit) heroine, Beth who gets tricked into a 'mating chase' to find a werewolf partner so that she can stay in her family's territory. Beth was really wishy-washing and seriously didn't know what she wanted in life to be a 'skin' (read: human) or be like her family as a wolf. Of course Dale is her OTC guy because we really don't meet any of the dozens of other single...more

3.5 Stars! I've enjoyed this cute short story! I can't wait for the next one in the series of which i have this feeling it's going to be even better !
Wonderful sexy little novella! Good story line and great characters. Wonderful start to a series. Can't wait to read the next story in the series. Highly recommend
I really loved this story and it's characters!
I wish it was longer, but the story was good.

Short and wolfy

First off, if you don't like short stories about werewolves then don't read this book. Basically the alpha's niece can't shift into her wolf after spending four years away at college and her uncle gives her the choice to either mate or go away. Finishing it in one day I found interesting enough to finish it but felt that at the same time it needed more to it
The Mating Chase is for people who...

...enjoy werewolves! casual nudity amongst their werewolves.
...don't mind when the heroine is forced to choose a mate. when the lady comes into her own and does what needs to be done.

While I'm not a fan of the "choose or leave" scenario, I got over it and ended up enjoying this book.

Things you have to know if you're planning to read this story.

-It's called Book 1, but it's simply a short story. It's in no way a "book".
-This is erotica at its lowest (if not it's worst), when the non-existent story is an excuse for sex. If this is your cuppa, you're welcomed to it. Personally I need a strong story.
-Characters, err, what characters? :)

Bonnie Vanak fell in love with romance novels during childhood. While cleaning a hall closet, she discovered her mother’s cache of paperbacks and started reading. Thus began a passion for romance and a lifelong dislike for housework.

After years of newspaper reporting, Bonnie became a writer for a major international charity. She travels to destitute countries such as Haiti to write about famine, d...more
