everyone except ultra conservatives who don't like getting upset
I adore Anna Quindlen. My favorite books are her compilations of columns, such as this one. (The only novel of hers I’ve thought was spectacular is Black and Blue.) She writes very well, thoughtfully and often with humor about everything personal, cultural, political, etc. in such a way that it’s easy for (so many, not just me) to feel as though she’d be a wonderful friend. I highly recommend these columns to all except those who are extremely conservative perhaps.

This is a compilation of columns by Anna Quindlen written at the turn of the century...1999-2003. She writes intelligently about the issues of the day, which of course, includes the 9/11 tragedy as she is a New York. My favorite piece was about alcohol and the fact that it is a drug that isn't treated like one by our society. She is a progressive (trying to avoid the pejorative "liberal") thinker. Her sensibilities are pretty much in line with my own.

Anyone
Although our views on a few key subjects differ greatly, I feel like Anna Quindlen and I would be great friends. I loved her essays and many brought tears to my eyes. Maybe there it is the common link of motherhood--especially of two boys less than two years apart...but whatever it was, I enjoyed every minute I spent with her over the past few days!

The book is a collection of essays written by Quindlen when she was a columnist for Newsweek. I love Ms. Quindlen's writing sytle-- the richness of the vocabulary is amazing, the prose is succinct and well written, and the ideas are always well developed. The essays cover a wide spectrum of political and social issues.

If you've enjoyed Anna Quindlen's columns in the Times or Newsweek, you'll enjoy this collection. I found her very easy to read but thoughtful and at times funny. I hadn't seen her Times columns, but I do read her in Newsweek.

A great collection of Anna Quindlen's columns. Some really lovely ones on the reality of motherhood. Even though I don't agree with some of her views she is such an amazing writer that it's still enjoyable to read.

Would recommend: For the most part
I found Anna Quindlen's essays interesting and mostly touching. The pieces became a sort of fragmented memoir, which was maybe an inadvertent result.

you don't have to agree with her politically to get wrapped up in her beautiful, clever and insightful look at reality.
