I was looking for a book that deconstructed how George Lucas created what is possibly the largest fan community for a commercial product. Unfortunately, this book turned out to be a mediocre collection of essays that barely delved into the creation of that fan-based culture. Most often than not, the essays felt like an analysis of the films, and not of the fandom! I will give Fan Cultures by Matthew Hills a try sometime.
