Sweet, short and interesting, but like most novellas, too short on development.

When I see a novella, I avoid it. But once in a while one catches me. Someone put this on her Top Ten List so I thought I’d try it. The main story is a romance between Myrrine and Bion. We don’t see them fall in love. It’s sort of a given. The story kept my interest but it needed more. The characters include humans and Greek Gods.

I like the author’s writing. I’d be happy to try a full length novel if she does one. But

This book had epic aspirations and started off lovely dark and eerie with Charon's adopted daughter, living a life on the edge of the underworld, but it failed to live up to its promise for me. The entire thing felt rushed, and the hero and heroine's relationship was not developed at all.

I admire the author's attempt to take us to so many places and play out dramatic scenes, but with the novella length we never had the chance to invest in any of the characters. A simpler, more focused tale would

I really liked this book. Yes, as a Novella, it's hard to get really deep into character development. It wasn't insta-love as another reviewer complained, but the author could have done a lot more with the metaphor of love blooming in the daylight. There could have been more of the internal conflict as to if they could or would stay together, but overall it was very good.

More like 2.5. A lot of potential here, but it doesn't quite work. I think the length hurts it. The surface-level engagement with the myths that it inspired it is probably the biggest problem I had with it though.

This story has an interesting premise. However, there isn't much romance at all. The hero, Bion, and heroine, Myrrine, have been friends since childhood and very suddenly decide they're in love. There really isn't much conflict and almost no romance.

So I'd been interested in this for a while and it was nominated for DABWAHA, so now was the time to finally read it!

I don't have a lot to say, but I really enjoyed it. Well worth my 99 cents. And I liked the background Hades/Persephone.

This was a nice story. Insta love, which is irritating, but the characters and situation were compelling. While I didn't love it, it was cleanly written and entertaining.
