In the spirit of full disclosure, I want my fellow readers to know that it went against my former strict training as a Christian to read an alluring book about magik, the earth goddess, and various nature spirits. But aside from that theological issue, I very much enjoyed this book, and was impressed with the quality of the writing, the sensitivity of the female protagonist, Montanya, and the way that patience was praised as a virtue. The lovely country settings, alive with salamanders, frogs, ...more

*I was given a copy of this book in exchange for my honest opinion*

This was a pretty cool story. It read like a folklore story, to me anyway. I got this feeling because some words or phrases were repeated throughout the novel. I felt this book overall was really creative. My kindle didn't recognize any of the name so I'm assuming the author make them up.

This is a fantasy novel that has magik (love that spelling of it!) elves, evil and good forces. I like how the main character, Montayna has bot

Very interesting book. Great world building in this story. It felt like a Tolkien type world. The creatures were interesting. I like the care of the environment and respect for other life forms that was shown in this book.

Spoiler alert:
The book is sweetly romantic. There is an absence of blood and gore and graphic sex that gave me a good feeling. While the impending darkness hangs in the background of your mind, the characters are great to each other. They work together, we don't see jealousy or

Imagine a world where magik is highly regarded with light and dark elements. Montayna has only known the life as a slave never dreaming of having her freedom. Yet when Montansya's master grants Montayna's freedom she feels completely blessed. Meeting Luca, Montayna discovers that she has magik powers that she didn't even know existed before now. Luca tells Montayna that she could go either way magikally speaking. Dark time seem to be spreading through out the land only The Chosen One can turn ...more

When I first started this book, it took me a little while to grasp the nature of the group and the harmony of the characters. Whilst it is obviously a trilogy, this book stands well alone (apart from the cliff hanger ending which has left me waiting for the next sequence of events!).
This is on the lighter scale of sci-fi, so for folk who would like to know a similar writer, may I suggest that if you enjoy Fiona McIntosh then this is also a book for you....

While I would love to give this book five stars there are few issues in the beginning chapters that need revisions before I can.

I the story is charming. A book I would definitely recommend to YA and Adults. Clean and sweet with some fine romantic elements this book should not cause a negative reaction for its content. The flash backs to the older characters lives are well written and intriguing. The quest is mostly straight forward and you want to have the heroine and her friends succeed.

A sadly disappointing, mediocre debut novel that left me feeling despondently numb

Having clapped eyes on the exquisitely beautiful mauve and amethyst cover, I was magnetically drawn to Ch’Kara Silverwølf’s first fantasy novel in the style of classic high/epic fantasy for Young Adults.

Books transport you to other realms of discovery, places of wonder and enchantment which bring dreams to life so allowing the imagination to soar…yet, despite the promising premise of this novel I alas found it so

I received this book for free, in exchange for an honest review.

I was rather excited to read this as the synopsis was really cool, and it sounded exactly like something I would typically read.

However, I was disappointed.

Firstly, this book reads like an extremely rough first draft a newbie might post on fictionpress. I had a problem with the author's style of writing. To begin with, she was rather thorough with unnecessary details, and vague with things I wanted to know about. And another thin

I read the Daughter of Light & Dark (Prophecy of Nitesh) with much anticipation. I wasn’t disappointed.

Synopsis: Humble beginnings, unexpected magik, and a fight against a dark threat. Such is the fate of Montanya, a child who never knew her parents. Follow her journey as she learns about her magical heritage and joins the fight against the Dark Lord.

What I liked: The plot was well developed. The story follows Montanya from her very humble beginnings as a slave to her evolution to a creature

I received this book in exchange for an honest review via Shut Up & Read.

The first few chapters peaked my interest, and held it captive! While Ms. SilverWolf spun this incredible world into life, her characters were well thought out and properly played. The magic of her words, made for an easy mental picture to form.

I loved the back stories leading up to Montayna, and her story. However, once I finished some of the secondary characters stories, I felt like I was satisfied with this part of t

Just... No. I really wanted to read this book when I read the summary. The story lines, the plot, could work. But not with this writing. The way she tells it reminds me more of the kind of bad fanfiction that I tend to ctrl+w on, and that's before counting the terrible dialogues, and how every. Single. Thing. Is a thing of pure convenience and little else. This quickly turned from something I wanted to read, to somethin

Firstly I would like to thank Ch’kara SilverWolf, author of Daughter of Light & Dark for giving me this opportunity of reading and reviewing this book.

Well, to be honest I didn't like this book a lot, it is extremely slow-paced and I felt it to be boring. I liked the characters though but we don’t get a detailed background of the characters rather there are too many dialogues and many chapters just go

2 's. This is the story of a woman who discovers her magic and struggles to fulfill her destiny. This starts out as a story of discovery...Montayna finding her place in the world of light and dark...of good and evil. The world building has been well thought out, and the characters fairly well fleshed out. Unfortunately...the story meanders in too much detail; too much mundane happenings of day to day life, and far too much inner dialogue by all the characters. So much telling and not enough show ...more

This was the first freebie I regret reading. It starts off pretty well and I enjoyed the first 20 pages A LOT, but then it becomes terrible boring... I think I fell asleep several times... Of course there are a few pages here and there that aren't that bad, but overall, it was excruciating...
