Since I knew very little about the 52nd Fighter Group of the USAAF in World War II, I decided to pick this book up in order to remedy that hole in my library. It's a very detailed work on the group, from its early origins in the U.S. to its combat service in Africa, Italy and over various countries in Europe. The narrative flows smoothly and is interspersed with personal accounts from a variety of personnel in the group, not just the fighter pilots who essentially are the main element of the ...more
