The Catching Fire Official Illustrated Movie Companion is the great way to relive this highly anticipated movie and get behind the scenes insight into how it was put together. Featuring high quality illustrations and movie stills of Catching Fire during its filming, the companion is beautiful to look at and captures the movie perfectly. While I would have liked more insight from the stars – there are some quotes here and ther

It was amazing! My mother and I had just seen the movie this afternoon and it was awesome! It followed the story and left out some of the minor things but everything else was similar to what happened in the book. I enjoyed reading how the movie was made and I especially like the costumes and how they were able to design the new arena because it was spectacular in the movie! I would pay again to go see this movie because it is absolutely worth the price! Don't want to spoil it for other fans! GO ...more

This book was read by student Laura Ellis as part of the Six Book Challenge. Here is her review:

"Being a lover of both the books and the films and also being a media student persuing a career making films this read was an absolute must! Being given an insight into the creation of a world that I love so much is one of the greatest and most exciting experiences for a nerd like me. Interviews with the director, cast and crew gives you the sense you're there on the set yourself. Also what I liked wa

This book has many high-quality pictures of the hit film, and includes interesting tidbits about casting, location shoots (arena game was filmed in Hawaii!) and, best of all, an in-depth look at each character's costume design. While there was much I learned about "Catching Fire's" production, I felt that Egan's writing was too simplified, relied too much on actor's interviews, and never went in-depth as much as I would have liked. Of course, the book's target audience is young teenagers, who ar ...more

This glossy magazine style companion is simply gorgeous. It discusses in depth from the release of The Hunger Games being an instant sensation, the characters of Katniss, Peeta and Gale now being household names. The story of a girl who volunteered as tribute, in order to save her sister Primrose in what would have been her eventual death. In a world where those that live in Capitol are indulging in luxurious parties, lavish fashions and an abundance of possessions, those who live within the dis ...more

Interesting read of behind-the-scenes/making-of factoids but the pictures they chose to include could have been better. Some of the pictures had nothing to do with what was being described and other pictures were a waste of a two-page spread. I'd rather see a side-by-side viewing of all seven of Effie's costumes instead of an expansive shot of a producer talking to one of the cast.

Reading behind-the-scenes stuff from movies is something I absolutely love. This was, you know, a guilty pleasure--the actual behind-the-scenes extra features that come with the movie provide more information--but still an enjoyable read.

Recommends it for: The Hunger Games fans
I already knew a lot of the information in this movie, and of course I had seen most of the pictures. I really only got this for my collection but it was still a decent read.

The books, the movies and now the movie companions are really good. So if you like all the above then you'll like this. Same for the first one.

This book looks into what goes on behind the scenes of the Catching Fire film, providing an in depth understanding of the process that goes into creating the story we see on our screens. Accompanied by cast and crew interviews, lots of fun facts and many beautiful stills from the film, I had lots of fun reading this movie companion. I learnt a lot, like why certain props or designs were used, which made me appreciate how much thought goes into making sure the film is the perfect adaptation of th ...more

+ Glossy magazine-quality paper and printing, same as the first movie companion book
+ Great added insight into the behind-the-scenes of The Hunger Games: Catching Fire
+ Included some extra symbolic meanings to things I had overlooked; also included some details that I had missed while watching the movie (like the Jabberjay picture in President Snow's room!)
+ Nicely written and composed + structured
+ A good amount of photographs that provide a more complete overview on the makings of the film, be

Delve into the behind-the-scenes of our favorite second movie. Lots of tid-bits on set development, costume & makeup decisions, plus location details. Enough in here to make a fan ready for the DVD release - and any juicy extras that may bring.

I dare you not to do the District 12 salute when you read "Many of the actors were in awe of Philip Seymour Hoffman when he arrived on set. Josh Hutcherson says, 'Just watching him was like going to an acting class.'" RIP dear player-of-Plutarch.

I enjoyed reading through the companion but I did think there would be more behind the scene info, more on what they left out and why, more on the characters or from them, and how they built the sets, I did get a few pages on the arena but it felt more like it was about the director Francis Lawrence and he talked about what he wanted to do and why, I wanted to hear more from the cast, I liked all the pictures and it's great for a hunger games fan, but more info would have been better

This illustrated companion is AMAZING! A lot of it probably has to do with the movie being sooooooooooo good. The movie followed the book extremely well and I enjoyed everything about it! Everything was basically hightened in this companion. All the pictures are beautiful and learning about what it took to make this movie what it is was; priceless. This item is a MUST have if you enjoy the series and movies!

It's fund reading these companions. Now when I watch the flick a second time, I'll be looking at different costumes and backgrounds. It all adds to the experience.
