It begins with a chilling phone call. And ends with another girl dead.

College-age girls with long red hair are being brutally murdered, posed like victims in a film noir. Each crime scene is eerily similar to the twisted fantasy of a serial offender now serving thirty years to life—a criminal brought to justice with the help of Casey Woods and her investigative team, Fore

At the request of the local police, Casey Woods and her Forensic Instincts team are helping investigate a series of murders. The victims are all redheaded college age women who have been raped and strangled. The killer starts contacting Casey, telling her that he is coming after her. Evidence points to a known murderer who is currently serving a life sentence. As Casey and her team search for the killer, more bodies are discovered, and the killer lets Casey know that she is next.

Wow, this one kept me guessing all the way till the end. I had guessed some things, but there was one big glaring fact that escaped me until it was pointed out.

I loved how everyone at Forensic Instincts has seemed to put their petty issues behind them and are clearly a team. It is a good thing because Casey really needed them all. I thought with the last book we were done with the bad guy, but no, he is still obsessed with Casey. I hated how with each new act this evil mad was able to poke at Ca

I like Forensic Instincts. This is the third book in the series. It is good except for the crimes committed, that part is not a fun topic. I like the team of characters at Forensic Instincts. The plot has twists some I expected and others I did not guess at all. I should have guessed more answers.

Their is case that Forensic Instincts has been hired to look into. It happened fifteen years ago and it ties into a case that is close to Casey past. A father has cancer stage 4 and he wants his

My" in a nutshell" summary...

Glenn is a very bad man and is in jail and can't hurt anyone any more...or can he?

My thoughts about this book...

This was one of those fast paced crime/drama books that I am usually incapable of putting down until I finish it. If I do have to put it down...I think about it and yearn to get back to it.

This book fills all of my mystery loving needs.

We have Casey and her crew...her company is Forensic Instincts and they solve crimes.
I enjoyed the journey through this book - well, as much as one can when reading about a twisted serial killer. The scene between Claire and Leilah was especially good - they hash things out over Ryan like grown women instead of immature teenagers and then move on! And talk about things that aren't men! It's a miracle and that's a sad fact.

Then it all goes downhill for me when the (view spoiler)

The Stranger You Know is Andrea Kane’s third installment in the Forensic Instincts series. I haven’t read the first two books, but I had no problem picking this book up and getting up to speed with the freelance forensic investigation team lead by behaviorist Casey. Hired by a father who doesn’t have long to live to investigate the cold case disappearance of his daughter from Columbia University several years previously, Casey and her team of specialists connect a group of murders and missing pe ...more

I didn't realize this book was the third in a series featuring Forensic Instinct until I read some of the reviews posted here. It worked just fine as a standalone read. The team put me in the mind of a tweaked up Criminal Minds squad, more specialized and not affiliated with the FBI or police.

There were some cool tools implemented by the tech-whiz of the unit. Present him with a problem, and he will come up with something to listen to it, record it, distract it, open it, whatever you need. This

Disclaimer: I listened to this book instead of reading it. Based on other reviews and a general liking for the story, I am trying to separate the story from the narration but it's difficult.

My review is mostly about the audio version. For plot details, read someone else's review :)

I've never listened to a book that made me repeatedly wonder if the narrator was a computer generated voice. I'd be convinced that it was, then a character would speak and I'd wonder again because the people were well
This is book 3 in the Forensic Instincts series, but the first one I've read and a new author for me. While I ultimately came down on the side of "good suspense thriller" I had to overlook several issues with this one to get there. First, the reader of this audio book at times reminded me of Apple's Siri (sp?) with every non-dialogue line delivered in an odd robotic manner. It took a while to get past that, and I've actually encountered this voice before in some action thrillers - same effect th ...more

The Stranger You Know is a disturbing psychological thriller with a serial rapist/murderer intent on making Casey Woods, team leader of Forensic Instincts, his ultimate prize. Casey has built an impressive team at Forensic Instincts and between them and the skills they bring to the table, they are a formidable force. The idea of a team of maverick investigators who, at times, cross lines that the police cannot is intriguing. While they often work alongside the police, this group is full of speci ...more

I began the book with the usual expectation of a great mystery and romance from a writer I really like but this book left me a little disappointed. Despite having the whodunit angle with good detail on several investigative methods there were some holes in the story like when FBI did a DNA match test for the felon, why didnt they pick up on the fact that the DNA was for a close match of the guy meaning his nephew was alive when they had dismissed him as dead?? Throughout the book there were some ...more

I really enjoyed this book and realized I have been reading the series though I didn't know it. Casey and Forensic Instincts are quite a group of people who are able to solve murder cases. This time the killer or killers are after Casey. She has put away a killer and now another is trying to get her. It moved very quickly and was hard to put down. I enjoyed the ride. Love this author.

Casey and Forensic Instincts are called in to find the missing daughter of a dying man that disappeared a year prior. They learn the Glen Fisher, whom they just helped put in prison, is responsible for her death and the death of Casey’s friend from years prior. But then collage girls with red hear are starting to be killed in the same way Fisher killed, even though he is in prison. Fisher starts taunting Casey and it seems that he is targeting her for the next victim.

Recommends it for: suspense, thriller, mystery fans
This is a great suspense novel that can stand alone but is so much richer for having read the previous books in the series. This is the third in the Forensic Instincts series and the characters continue to grow and evolve as individuals and in their relationships--both romantic and professional. Kane manages to embed each of these novels with an intense, gripping story, but this one is perhaps the most edge-of-your-seat because it is the closest to home (so to speak) since Casey, the head of FI ...more

I liked this book. It's about a group of people on the Forensics Instincts team who help solve crimes. The team consists of a Behavioral Analyst, a psychic, some people in law enforcement and a computer guy who makes things with artificial intelligence.

This is the story about a current crime that is eerily similar to one that happened 15 years before where Casey put the killer in prison. In spite of the killer being in prison, the new killer has been calling Casey after the crime and putting the

I ended up re-reading the first book to check the connection. It's a small part of the book and I love how the author has expanded on it to build it to this book.

This was well written and intense. You feel the anguish as the attacks happen but the team isn't there on finding the killer. The drama builds. The final scenes matched to the rest of the book.

I particularly like that this author can convey the horror the attacks without requiring a gory, blood filled description of each slash and tear.

I actually picked this book up for the cover - bright yellow is quite attractive. The blurb was enticing enough, and I do like suspense/mysteries. Unfortunately, all the suspense came from me suspending my disbelief.

The story started out good - Casey is the head of a detective team, Forensic Instincts, made up of Marc, the ex-Navy Seal, Ryan, the computer/AI genius, Patrick, the ex-cop, Claire, the precog/claircognitive, and Hero, the bloodhound. They've been asked to investigate the location o

I won this book from Book Reporter.
Casey Woods, the head of the Forensic Instincts Team is a redhead.
That is precisely who a violent killer is targeting. Her turn is coming. She knows who is behind the scary threats...but he's in prison?
It will take all of Forensic Instincts resources, experiences and determination to out-think the bad guy. They fail repeatedly. More Reds die.
Will FI team member Ryan catch him? He's their artificial intelligence tech. Marc? He's their former SEAL & FBI

Although this book is not as good as the first two in the series it is still a good read and I would recommend it. This is the third 'Forensic Instincts' book. All the usual characters return as well as some new nasty villains.

Casey Woods and her boyfriend Kyle 'Hutch' Hutchinson are still going strong and take their relationship to the next level. Claire and Ryan are still together as well and getting closer. The crime descriptions are explicit so reader beware.

I still prefer Ms. Kane's earlie

I've always like Andrea Kane's writing but this series is really super. I love how the very different characters interact together. Casey, the behaviorist; Patrick, the former FBI agent; Ryan, the technical genius; Marc, the former SEAL and former FBI guy; and Claire, the psychic. Not to mention, Hutch, Casey's boyfriend who is FBI. Amazingly enough, they get along smashingly. The FBI guys don't even flinch when the gang does things a little bit illegal. I just love how all the personalities mes ...more

The Stranger You Know is the third book in Andrea Kane’s Forensic Instincts series. These books follow a small firm of private investigators. All of them seem to come from some prior law enforcement, military, and or government type backgrounds but are now working in the private sector. I have not read the previous two books in this series and thankfully there really isn’t a need to. I didn’t feel lost at all because there was enough recap spread throughout the first part of the book to catch me ...more

Another fantastic story in the Forensic Instincts Series. This time there is a series of murders of red haired women. Casey, the founder and owner of Forensic Instincts, wants so badly to solve this cold case and of course the new ones that are cropping up. Casey lost one of her friends when she was in college and she fits the profile of the victims. Is it possible that her friend was one of the first victims? Will Casey be able to find out the truth and in turn save herself from the killer? Fab ...more

I have enjoyed all three books in this series.

I absolutely love FI and the entire cast of characters.

From the first page to the last, this book kept me guessing. So of the clues were very obvious, but one of the main facts was not clear until I read it and it was a startling surprise.

With each book, I grow to love the FI team more. It even seems that they are softening up and relaxing into the grey areas.

This was the story of Glen Fisher and redheads that were dying. Even though Glen was in jail

3.0 out of 5 stars - Formulaic romantic suspense thriller.

This third in the Forensic Instincts series has Casey and company on a manhunt for a serial rapist murderer who seeks out red-headed college age girls as he moves closer and closer to his ultimate victim -- Casey herself. Their major problem with this case, however, is that the criminal identified by DNA and other factors is locked up in a secure prison. Casey knows there is no such thing as a copy-cat killer so the race is on to find the

Andrea Kane is an author whose name I recognized, but hadn't yet sampled their writing. Kane is a fairly prolific writer, with a number of series to her credit.

The Stranger You Know is the third entry in her Forensic Instincts series. FI is a group of experts with specialized skill sets and deep pockets, able to go and do what formal agencies can't. In this book, they have been asked to assist by local law enforcement.

The founder of FI, Casey Woods, was the bait for a serial killer in the pas
