Le sigh. This one felt less easy.

Darin’s a cutie. Then a bit of a twit. Then… something. And finally he’s awesome.
Axoev? Eh. Started out fine, turned less than that, and less, until I wanted to shake him. Not very happy with his behaviour for the greatest part of this book. In the end, (view spoiler).

The thing is, this author is really good at thinking up harsh cultural systems. It’s fascinating yet also very depressi

Volume number six in this series continues the accounting of all the stolen humans from Earth and where they end up. Darin has an unusual "career" as a slave, since he is stolen twice then handed over to his final master as payment for a debt. But the alien who now determines his fate doesn’t only want him as a slave, he needs him to stave off the women of his clan. As long as he has a male slave/lover, they cannot come and claim him. And since Axoev wants nothing to do with women, he is ready t ...more

Omg.. I can't decide 4 or 5 stars?? 4.5?

While I don't fully agree with the 'Barbarian' part of the title, this is possibly the best book so far of the series. Since we've already had the background on how humans came to be in this world we don't need a recap.. and.. We don't get one (thank you) except for possibly one paragraph that tells us Darin was sold and stolen, and stolen, and stolen.... Bringing us to current events with current green guy who stole him. No unnecessary commentary on how t

It was an enjoyable read. However, the beginning was too vague. I would like to have had the story of Darin's abduction from earth, then his abduction from his first owner and then his abduction from his abductor by Wetoo. That sure was a lot of abducting!

I didn't think it was possible, let alone twice in one series, but Ms. McLeod has done it again. Beyond the romance, she has created a complete symbiotic culture between man and plant. Her details and ability to create a beautiful world ripe with history never cease to amaze me, and the talent to put it into a single book is something I never thought possible. In addition to this, she even gave the human a more rounded background and personality, starting him off as a mere gamer/designer and exp ...more
I'm so glad these books are coming out quickly! This book was so good! I loved the concept of a tree lurking people who' s trees supply their every need almost. I kind of wanted to see more of Darin's mathematician coming out. It came out more as an engineer but I had assumed he would teach the tree ppl much more than he did. t I suppose his life is long and he will eventually teach them a lot. As usual I can't wait for the next book and hope this series goes on forever!

This sequle was a huge improvement to the previews one(Sold 5).
The life style of these Aliens was quite interesting, great imagination from the author.
Lovely characters also, and I was completely smitten by a secondary character, it's a real pity gorgeous Sieg is straight and he won't have his own "M/M" story.

I love this series! I'm glad Darin found his place among the Shadow Clan. The term "ball juice" stunned me at first then made me laugh out so hard, other people were giving me puzzled looks! The ending was different compared to the other books in this series. It was a refreshing change. Very enjoyable read.
Different from the other books in the series and for a change there is no involvement from the krase warriors to take the human back to their planet to free them
This series just keeps getting better and better! I really enjoyed this book. What an adventure. Can't wait for the next!

This was so different from most in the world the author created. I really liked the planet and the men!
