Delia Smith is simply wonderful but at times her attempts to save the home cook from overwrought techniques can lead to attempted over-management. I prefer not to have to wade through Smith's directives to "put that pan away now; you don't need it anymore" etc.

The recipe for steamed treacle sponge pudding is the best I've ever tried. It's really easy to put together; it comes out right every time to put a smile on everyone's face - a pudding I always look forward to making when winter arrives! The rest of the pudding recipes are good too.
I love Delias cookbooks... but I wish she'd just cook and keep her big gob shut!
